Seeing Better Lovers tomorrow

...opening for Underoath (with We Came As Romans and The Ghost Inside, two bands I don't especially care about, sandwiched in-between). Pretty stoked! (Even if it's the worst imaginable logistical setup!) List is some thoughts on the show's artists + random recent digs.
1Better Lovers
God Made Me An Animal

I've probably listened to this 20 times since it came out (though that's obviously helped by the fact that it's only 15 minutes haha). Such a good melding of musicians here, and a nice return to some DEP-esque aggression after ol' Poochie's moodier solo output (which is wonderful in its own right), while also honestly a good bit more melodic (in a good way) than I was expecting--but still plenty chaotic. Definitely gonna be the highlight of the show for me.
2Underoath
Voyeurist

I owe this one a relisten or two before tomorrow; I remember liking it more than "Erase Me," but I also really only return to "Pneumonia" routinely, so I should probably make another attempt here.
3Underoath
Define the Great Line Special Edition CD+DVD

Their peak, in my opinion. Got to see them perform this (along with They're Only Chasing Safety) in full live a few years back, so I won't be bummed if they pick and choose, but hot damn will I go hoarse if they bust out some of these tracks. "Returning Empty Handed"/"Casting Such a Thin Shadow" is an all-time song combo; the term "epic" gets tossed around a bit too freely these days, but that pair is its very definition.
4The Ghost Inside
Get What You Give

In trying to bone up for that midsection, picked this one at random, and thought it was actually pretty decent. I get the sense that if it had come out closer to my high school, KsE-fueled metalcore days, it'd be right up my alley; as it is, they're a fairly good acolyte. I'll probably give their latest a whirl before the show, as well, but if anybody else has a favorite from these fellas, feel free to drop a comment.
5We Came As Romans
Tracing Back Roots

Another one chosen kinda haphazardly from the group's discography (guess I've got a thing for third albums?). Definitely a little on the poppy side of the spectrum for me, as far as this genre goes. But again, if there are any better offerings in anybody's opinion, shout at me.
6Deftones
Deftones

Picked up the 20th(!) anniversary repress of this recently. It's obviously grown in fans' estimation over time, but anything that followed White Pony was bound to feel like a letdown at the time. By my reckoning, this thing's only gotten better with age, and "Hexagram" is such a tremendous opener it actually brings tears to my eyes.
7Captain, We're Sinking
The Future Is Cancelled

10-year anniversary on this bad boy, and it's been far too long since I really intently listened to it. Shit holds up, and one of those albums where I surprise myself by singing along to lyrics I literally haven't even thought about in years.
8Pity Sex
Feast of Love

Pretty much verbatim what I said above.
9Anthony Green
Boom. Done.

Finally got ahold of this one. I'm not sure if it qualifies as a true "solo" album, but if so, probably the best one he's done. He's actually gonna be at a nearby venue at the end of August, so will probably make it out to that one. (Also got to see L.S. Dunes earlier this month, coincidentally at the same venue I'm seeing this UO/BL show. They were great.)
10Strange Ranger
Pure Music

Kind of a curveball here, but this sucker's been on fallback repeat since it dropped last week. Lush, atmospheric, and fun stuff.
