02.16.24 | I think it's really cool that you're passionate about this music. Regardless of disagreements that others might hold with you (and I'm sure there'll be plenty of snark and sarcasm coming in the comments below me), I like the genuine passion you hold for the music you like. Rather than trying to tear down others' tastes and appear cool with [insert experimental band here], you're just forthright about what you enjoy and honestly discuss what you like. I find this very inspiring for pop listeners like me who feel alienated from the typical music seen as "cool" on here, and just want to talk about they actually like, rather than what they're supposed to like.
Maybe this is a little long-winded, but all I'm trying to say is that I appreciate your passion. I think being passionate about what we really like is more natural, even more healthy, than trying to appear au fait with something that's just beyond our kens. I definitely hope to see more of you here. |

02.16.24 | Were you born in 1993? |

02.16.24 | Kinda agree with King
Iād shit on most of the albums but you could probably do the same to the records that I loved when I was first really getting into music.
Meteora is still a jam, maybe even better than Hybrid Theory, and that In Flames record is underrated as hell. Honestly one of my favorite albums they ever put out. |

02.16.24 | I remember showing Sonic Syndicate to all my metalcore friends and them being all like woah who are this cool band? They definitely had some great songs across the first three albums (and the bassist was my "celebrity" crush in high school ha). then they released We Rule The Night or whatever it was called lol, one of the worst albums I've ever heard |

02.16.24 | Kinda agree with King[2]
Funny how my list would start very similar (with Linkin Park & Evanescence) and then go off in a different direction. |

02.16.24 | The Offspring was the first band that I remember feeling a connection to. I'm not ashamed of that, stil llisten to them from time to time.
But man did that lead to some cringe ass shit, like 'cute is what we aim for' and things like that. |

02.16.24 | I always write my lists on a txt file first and then copy-paste everything. That's what you get for being addicted to a website that was made in 1986. |

02.16.24 | BFMV, ETF and Mayday Parade were certainly super impactful to my music development.
I would have to add Aaron Carter, Fall out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and AFI to my list lol |

02.16.24 | @Cugno 1993 isn't a bad guess for this user. I see a lot of overlap and I am 94' :) |

02.17.24 | Nice. Personally, I never really got into a lot of these bands myself, since my musical allegiance was in areas other than modern metal and pop punk/emo growing up, though I will state that I did always respect a lot of performers from the latter, it's not music I ever really actively sought out but I'd certainly take it over the supposedly more "authentic" '70s first-wave punk and '80s hardcore (plus, given how a lot of people threw homophobic rhetoric at those bands' hairstyles, fashion sense, and in some cases makeup during the '00s, I grew to respect them even more for pushing these boundaries as I inched further towards coming out). That said, I think it's awesome that you're so open about what you are (or were) into, regardless of whether or not any of those tastes are hip to clown. It's a pure joy to see someone so passionate on here, regardless of whether or not their tastes are "cool." It's a nice thing to see on here. š |

02.17.24 | Hey 80s hardcore is good :c
Although I do agree with what you said about emo bands pushing the gender role boundaries. |
JKing92
02.17.24 | I'm happy to see an old-school punk fan who can say that. Quite a few of those people (not many or most, I'm not out to make blanket statements, but certainly a relatively significant amount) seem to be more than happy to throw homophobic and even misogynistic dogwhistles in the direction of emo bands (if not outright resorting to slurs), and I'm glad that someone can state that they like hardcore while not saying something like, "These emo wimps don't have a thing on Black Flag," or something similar. Good on you. š |
