03.26.24 | Oh man, let me think about this. I know this happened to me numerous times.
One for sure being the whole record 'Phobia' by Breaking Benjamin. Always liked the Diary of Jane but thought the rest was just annoying music. Now I really vibe with that record. |
oisincoleman64
03.26.24 | Well I guess I need to revisit that record then, I never hated it but I checked it out on the strength of Diary of Jane and was disappointed with the rest |

03.26.24 | anything by cyndi lauper lol |

03.26.24 | I really just love track 2 to 8, and 'Had Enough' also slams. |

03.26.24 | @budgie that's interesting, Time After Time is actually a song that hit me like a truck immediately |

03.26.24 | i hated kate bush - the dreaming (both the album and the song) and now its in my top 10 ever |

03.26.24 | backstreet boys - incomplete. 10 top all time pop song ever. used to hate it though. |

03.26.24 | No. Absolutely not. Whatever I found intriguing on a first listen I will continue to find intriguing, and whatever I found annoying I will continue to find annoying, forever, to varying degrees. There's songs that have both elements that I've been able to stockholm syndrome myself into tolerating in the context of a full album, but I'm never gonna go from outright hate to outright love. That's stupid. Whatever I feel initially is always 100% objectively correct and everyone else's opinion is dumb, including my own when I doubt that initial take and debase myself into trying to "get" things that have no redeeming qualities. |

03.26.24 | It's impressive how bad Maxwell's Silver Hammer is that I actually start to appreciate it. The synthesizer part on it also sounds nice I suppose. I think writing terrible songs was just Paul McCartney's way of rebelling being a pop star or something. |

03.26.24 | when i was a stupid child, i hated bohemian rhapsody. i am so happy i changed. |

03.27.24 | I kinda hated Knocked Loose, just in general due to their vocalist being grating on my ears and their chugalicious brand of core lacking redeeming qualities, but their most recent single caused me to revisit that 2021 EP they did (had it rated 2.5) and it's actually a pretty nicely put together little package. I think their style has also grown on me too, I don't mind brain-destroying stuff like this as long as it's convincingly heavy and has passion behind it.
Still remains to be seen if they can follow-up with a quality LP cause I still don't care much for everything else they've done |

03.27.24 | knocked loose latest single is legit |

03.27.24 | A majority of Lady Gaga's first couple albums. They dropped when I was in high school and I was a stupid teenager that thought she was awful. Now I bump that shit so hard. |

03.27.24 | bunch of Lily Allen singles were among my first active exposure to chart music and I absolutely hated that shit, but her style and personality have aged so much better than most of that generation of pop and I'm always glad to hear her now
Imitation Girl by Seiko Oomori too, did not fw the plastic EDM stylings at all on first exposure, took my years to realise how iconic and smartly constructed a track it is, thought the title sentiment was cheap postulation but (similar to Lily Allen tbh) it sits a lot better having warmed up to the personality behind it. also, conveniently, a massive fuckoff banger |
Mort.
03.27.24 | lily allens early stuff has aged very well imo

03.27.24 | Aurinko Ei Nouse by Finnish band Ruoska. Used to annoy me but now I it the hell outta that song. lol But really all jokes aside I vibe with it now. Also wasn't to crazy with Seemann from Rammstein way back but now I vibe with that too. :) |

03.27.24 | First exposure to QOTSA was 'Feel Good Hit of the Summer'... wasn't impressed by a list of drugs repeated over and over; all faux-edgy, rebebelliousness in a standard, obvious way. Then, 'The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret' I thought was a run-of-the-mill chug-chug-chug, verse-chorus radio rock song.
Get involved with the (superb) album though, in context they're indispensable. Weird how that works. |
DoofDoof
03.27.24 | as a kid I rejected 50% of stuff on first exposure...Faith No More, Talking Heads, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, The Cure, you name it really - some of my favourite bands I first rejected.
(slightly) more recently I remember not liking the video and song of Everything Everything's 'Photoshop Handsome' when it would come up on MTV and now they're one of my most played bands
now I'm a lot more aware that the elements of a new song I find 'too much', 'just off' or maybe even close to embarrassing to enjoy are often what eventually snag me down the line |

03.27.24 | Most recently has to be A7X's "Nobody"
