| Top 5 Eps Of 2008
This was a fantastic year for EPs. It was a tough list to make... but here are my results. | 1 | | Title Fight Kingston
A nice, tight three song EP that is easily the best thing I've heard all year. Title Fight play a really technical, yet melodic hardcore/punk. Think Lifetime/Saves the Day, but unlike the drones of bands filling that gap today, these kids have a distinct sound. This is a must have. | 2 | | New Found Glory Tip of the Iceberg
This rivals NFG's self-titled album as their best work. The three originals on this EP are all killer, their most urgent work in years, and completely contagious like the flu. While the covers are all good, the Gorilla Biscuits and Lifetime covers both feel rather safe, padded even. Nevertheless, I can't wait for the new full length coming this March. | 3 | | Dead to Me Little Brother
A friend of mine suggested Dead to Me and The Loved Ones to me this past fall, so I picked up the newest by each band and while I enjoyed The Loved Ones, I loved Dead to Me. Little Brother is another damn near perfect EP. "Don't Wanna" may be the catchiest song I'd heard all year since, and the title track shows such potential locked up inside these guys. Stoked for their next disc. | 4 | | Kane Hodder Through the Bloody Channels, We Raise Our Sails
After a four year wait since their debut, one of my favorite little-known bands finally were able to get some new songs out. With so much time having gone by, certain expectations arise. Good for me, Kane Hodder were able to meet the mark they had set. While not flawless, this EP captures KH at their purest. While their hasn't been much growth, they can still write a crazy twisted original mass of chords and twisted vocal heights. | 5 | | Finch Finch - EP
So maybe I'm giving this a little more of a bump than it deserves, but the new Finch EP does hit more than it misses. Sure, they're stuck between their two vastly different full-lengths... never quite hitting the catchiness of What it is to Burn or the math-y experiments of Say Hello to Sunshine, falling in the middle. With that still, it's good to hear Finch is still alive and still writing good music. | |

01.07.09 | willfell, Some Blood isn't an EP. It's not that short for a hardcore record, especially for Off Minor.
As for the list, I don't really care for a some of these bands. | DAVECATAZ
06.30.09 | How did you like Not Without a Fight? I felt sort of misled after listening to Tip of the Iceberg. |
