Amazing Songs
Some of these are new, others much older. This is just a list of great songs that everyone should look into. |
1 | Trophy Scars Sleep Little Nemo
Most people who have come to love this band due to their newest release
would do well to check out their older stuff, which is (imo) their best, and
this is definitely their best song, it has excellent guitar work, and powerful
and emotional vocals. |
2 | Animal Collective Lion in a Coma
Animal Collective have created a masterpiece with thier latest release 'Merriweather Post Pavillion', and this is the single greatest song off said album, or perhaps the greatest song of theirs in general. Possibly
the best song I have heard so far in 2009. |
3 | Joanna Newsom Peach, Plum, Pear
While I'm sure most people will tell you that she is one of the most annoying vocalists to ever produce music, the truth is that this song, as well as most of hers are insanely catchy. One word best sums this song up 'cute'. |
4 | Kashiwa Daisuke Stella
I can't explain why this song is as amazing as it is, that would just take all day. It's 35 minutes in length, which I'm sure will put a lot of people off, but it's one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. There are basically no vocals, just electronica with violins, keyboards and more, a must for anyone who loves music. |
5 | Nightwish Ghost Love Score
This song is symphonic, chorral perfection. The instrumentation throughout is some of the best I have ever heard in a song, and the choir at the end really makes this worth the listen. |
6 | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Blaise Bailey Finnegan III
I'm not as into this band as I should be, but this song is just god damn incredible. Nearer the end there's a great poem being spoken that is apparently taken from an Iron Maiden song. The drumming is superd. |
7 | Mono Ashes in the Snow
One of the best post rock songs I've heard all year, there can only be one word to sum this up...'EPIC'. |
8 | mewithoutYou The King Beetle on a Coconut Estate
The entire new mewithoutYou record was amazing, but I was not expecting the best song to be placed one song before the end of the album. This is likely their best song, it showcases how amazing this band is lyrically, and how much the lead vocalist Aaron has improved. Even if you're not religious, you'll have a hard time not singing along and enjoying the messages being conveyed. |
9 | Kate Bush Cloudbusting
Ross Tomlin likes this song... it is that good! |
10 | Broken Social Scene Anthems For A 17 Year-Old Girl
This song features the vocalist from metric, and this in my opinion is BSS' best song to date. |
