Top 5 Favorite Songs Of All Time

This is a list of my favorite songs of all time. Enjoy!
1Dream Theater
Octavarium

Octavarium is not considered Dream Theaters most profound and impressive album, but while the album is certainly not their best, the title track is an absolute masterpiece. "Octavarium" took me to a place that a piece of music had never taken me before and I believe that is why I still cannot get tired of this amazing opus. Every time I listen to the song, it's like I have never heard it before. I still remain in absolute awe every time I hear it and that is why "Octavarium" is my absolute favorite song of all time.
2Pink Floyd
Us And Them

Out of all of Pink Floyd's great songs, Us And Them is my absolute favorite. The subtle tone and ambient atmosphere created by the instruments and Roger Waters' vocals just makes the song so amazing. I think, though, what really drew me to the song was the saxophone played throughout the song. It really just takes the listener to a subtle and quiet place.
3Opeth
Ghost of Perdition

Ghost Reveries is far from my favorite Opeth album. While I loved it, it ranks nowhere near albums like Still Life and Blackwater Park in my book. Still, it does contain one of my favorite songs Opeth has ever performed. Ghost of Perdition is probably the greatest opening song I have ever heard. Most of this is due to Opeth's flawless writing. This song contains everything an Opeth fan loves, from deep, guttural growls to one of the most beautiful acoustic transitions I have ever heard. This song shows off everything that Opeth is good at and proves to the listener what makes them such an original and amazing band.
4Devin Townsend
Earth Day

Devin Townsend is most assuredly one of the most talented musicians I have ever encountered. He writes songs many musicians just wish they could imagine, much less write them. Earth Day, while somewhat slapstick in its lyrical demeanor, it still pertains this very serious vibe to it. This song is absolutely one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. The first time I heard it I was stunned by the many hooks that Townsend came up with and successfully inserted within the song. It still shocks me and the song still amazes me every single time I hear it.
5Nevermore
This Godless Endeavor

I really don't have much to say about this song except that it just absolutely kills. It is an 8 minute epic that I truly was not ready for when I first heard it. The acoustic intro disguises the song for a quiet and subtle closer, yet "This Godless Endeavor" is very far from that. With Jeff Loomis' amazing guitar leads and Warrel Dane's howling vocals, this song is a Nevermore fan wet dream from start to finish.
