Five Recent Listens

a few albums iv recently spun
1Protest The Hero
Fortress

The sheer madness and originality this record shows makes it a fantastic album, easily the best sputnik has ever recommended me. There simply isnt a bad riff anywhere to be found.
2 Between The Buried And Me
Colours

This is one of those albums I automatically assumed would be terrible, despite it's brilliant rating on sputnik. Thankfully, the first listen shut me up, and it hasnt een off the stereo since. Its a combination of influenced that shouldnt work, but inexplicably does.
3 Black Sabbath
Masters Of Reality

A classic Sabbath album and the first with drop c tuning. It builds on the sound established on Sabbath and Paranoid, but creates something completely new in the process. By no means a perfect album, but the strength of classics such as Sweet Leaf make it an enjoyable listen.
4Sentenced
Amok

Wild card. The production on this album lets it down, but the Bodom-esque mix of sharp vocals, death metal and rock and roll still afford an enjoyable, if somewhat strained listen.
5Dimension Zero
He Who Shall Not Bleed

If At The Gates and TJR era In Flames spawned offspring, this is surely what it would sound like, although it isnt as good as either. This album is pretty repetitive, but is almost a hint of what A Sense Of Purpose should have been. Certianly a rec for any melodeath fans out there.
