LepreCon
09.10.09 | /flaem for being in mehtuhlbore band.
Carcass' Heartwork is like the best melodeath album ever ever ever. Though probably not |
A7XEric
09.10.09 | Buried in Oblivion is fucking godlike. It's a shame The Incurable Tragedy was so weak. |
Observer
09.10.09 | In Flames- Colony and Clayman
Sonic Syndicate- Only Inhuman (they're hated on this site but are close-ish to Scar Symmetry)
Mors Principium Est- The Unborn
Eluveitie- Slania
Blinded Colony- Bedtime Prayers
Disarmonia Mundi- Mindtricks and Fragments of D-Generation
Hypocrisy- Virus
Ensiferum- self-titled and From Afar
Skyfire- Mind Revolution |
chrisbringsrevenge
09.10.09 | I hadn't listened to it, but that is what my drummer said |
Lunarfall
09.10.09 | Garden of Shadows - Oracle Moon
Hypocrisy - Virus
In Flames - The Jester Race, Clayman
Insomnium - Above the Weeping World
Kalmah - They Will Return
Raintime - Flies and Lies
Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine
Edge of Sanity - Crimson (borderlines regular death metal, but still awesome) |
chrisbringsrevenge
09.10.09 | And thank you observer, I have been meaning to check out Disarmonia Mundi, Skyfire and Hypocrisy |
Observer
09.10.09 | Oh yeah,
All That Remains- The Fall of Ideals (catchy stuff)
And try Soilwork I guess.
hope that helps |
Athom
09.10.09 | all you really need is some hypocrisy and some Edge of sanity. |
Inveigh
09.10.09 | Well, it looks to me like you're already into a lot of good melodeath. I would go with some other albums by the bands you've got there, namely The Jester Race and Colony by In Flames (maybe Come Clarity too) and Terminal Spirit Disease by At the Gates.
Ditto to LeperCon about Carcass' Heartwork, it's stunning.
I would also say check out:
Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait, Natural Born Chaos and The Chainheart Machine
Also, anything by The Absence and Autumn Leaves. |
FadeToBlack
09.10.09 | yeah basically the more melodeath you listen to, the more you realise it's a completely stagnant genre and how most of it sucks. anyway get:
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Edge Of Sanity - Crimson
Hypocrisy - Virus
In Flames - The Jester Race |
Metalstyles
09.10.09 | lot of good stuff already rec'd but i will contribute with some too:
The Duskfall - The Dying Wonders Of The World
Descending - Enter Annihilation
Dimension Zero - He Who Shall Not Bleed
Noumena - Anatomy Of Life
Be'Lakor - The Frail Tide |
Metalplayer2020
09.10.09 | Arch Enemy- Stigmata
Light This City- Stormchaser (actually thrash metal, but they have some melo-death influenced guitar harmonies)
Dark Tranquility- The Gallery
and if you're interested, check out Dismember. They're straight up death metal, but have melodic tremolo picking riffs. Override of the Overture from Like an Ever Flowing Stream would a good place to start |
chrisbringsrevenge
09.10.09 | Thanks so much guys, I am going to check out as many of the bands as I can ^_^ I think my love for melodeath might soon rival that of metalcore lol. (oh and don't rec me The Gallery anymore, I already have it haha) |
cvlts
09.10.09 | if you like TBDM you should check out this band called The Absence.

FadeToBlack
09.10.09 | Not melodeath, but check out Like An Ever Flowing Stream (by Dismember) and Left Hand Path (by Entombed)
and Dark Tranquillity and Hypocrisy shit all over Scar Symmetry
|
Inveigh
09.10.09 | Yes. Scar Symmetry, while good, are a popcorn melodeath band. Like what Dimmu Borgir are to black metal (kinda, only not as big and actually being melodeath while DB is not real black metal at all -- ok, bad comparison).
Hypocrisy and DT do shit all over them. As does Autumn Leaves and Soilwork. |
Lelle
09.10.09 | If you like 8 and 10 you should really get Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands Of A Sadist Nation.
It's like At the Gates on motherfucking crack with (for me) more enjoyable vocals |
tommycashin1
09.29.09 | Be'lakor - Stones Reach. Like Insomnium but even stronger emphasis on melody and more epic sounding. |
KILL
09.29.09 | tjr, crimson |
