10.09.09 | most of the people i know start out liking shitty music until they start spending more time with me.
most of my friends listen to hardcore punk, so getting them into screamo wasnt too hard.
the craziest example of this is my gf. her fav band was rhcp but i showed her saetia and she immediately loved it and now we hardcore dance around her appt listening to my collection of 7"s
ive only met one other person in my town who new about "real" screamo and he knew a few bands (saetia, orchid, ctts, city of caterpillar, joshua fit for battle) and had a great taste in other genres as well but was a complete douche-bag. his knowledge was very superficial and he acted like the most elite dickhead. it wouldnt matter if he actually had a knowledge of indie and skramz beyond the bands that EVERYone should know. |

10.09.09 | i have one good friend who likes most of the metal and prog music i like, then another friend who likes all the prog rock i like, then another firend who likes the same hard rock i like. i dont know a whole lot of people who like screamo or post-hardcore. then i have a coworker who has the same taste and ideals on hip-hop |
SlightlyEpic
10.09.09 | Okay, fair play.
It doesn't really matter, people can listen to whatever they enjoy. I guess living in the UK means people here are less exposed to hardcore and what have you.
I might try getting my girl into skramz stuff but I'm not sure I have the willpower. Blah, whatever. |

10.09.09 | i know a couple kids that live across campus that listen to really good music and have a band called my heart to joy that internet people seem to be repping lately
and then i have one friend who will listen to and enjoy anything i tell him to
and then i know a kid who only listens to p4k approved music that i'm gonna try to get into skramz and shit
and then one of my friends back home only really listens to hip-hop but he has really good taste in hip-hop and he'll tolerate whatever i wanna play when i'm driving. |

10.09.09 | Just go to shows. You're bound to meet people that like the kind of music you do seeing as well, you're at the same show. That's how I meet people anyway. Most of my regular friends enjoy mainstream music and I have two friends that like some pop punk but, that's about it. |
iranscam
10.09.09 | all the people with good tastes are on the forums |

10.09.09 | and they are the only people in the world with good taste! |
iranscam
10.09.09 | but yeah basically everyone who is a regular at this one venue here in birmingham, AL have good taste and are generally knowledgable on most types of music |
Prophet178
10.09.09 | Dude same here. None of my friends, or anyone I have met, shares the same passion for music that I do. I will try and try to turn them onto good bands, and they will like it, but not enough to come to a show, check out anything else in their discography, or even ask me for similar bands.
It sucks cause I'll go to shows and talk with a bunch of people that share the common interest of music, but outside of that setting I can't find anyone who is like that. |
AnotherBrick
10.09.09 | i've pry got like 2 friends or so who i can actually talk music with |

10.09.09 | If Sputnik had its own town we would all get into fights about which Opeth and Converge album is the best and end up killing each other in a music related civil war. |
Yazz_Flute
10.09.09 | Some of my close friends listen to decent-good music but most everyone I know doesn't. I don't let it bother me though, if they want to listen to that let them listen to it. It's when they start trying to pass off why Drake is so good and then saying that Hypocrisy is an emo band because they "scream" that pisses me off. That usually results in me being an elitist douchebag giving genre descriptions but usually ends with me stopping short because I realize nobody really gives a fuck besides me. |

10.09.09 | Well I feel real lucky because the majority of my close friends have pretty similar tastes as I do. Everyone everyone I'm around(family, coworkers, school people) are generally clueless, but that's expected. But I can sympathize, my friend. |
