Black Metal Digs

Been listening to alot lately
1Weakling
Dead as Dreams

I have no idea why I put off checking this out for so long, it's probably the best black metal album to come from the US. Very epic, very dense, very atmospheric.
2Drudkh
Autumn Aurora

This is seriously the perfect time of year for this album. I never really got into Drudkh until this fall, and now I see exactly what all the hype is about. Great album by a great band.
3Amesoeurs
Ruines Humaines

Black metal/post-punk at its best. I was seriously disappointed with this band's full-length; it seems like Neige put alot more work into these 3 songs than he did the entire s/t. Anyway this is absolutely stunning from start to finish and any fan of melancholic BM absolutely needs this.
4Mortifera
Vastiia tenebrd mortifera

Awesome depressive black metal from France, very much like early Alcest and Mutiilation.
5Leviathan
Tentacles of Whorror

Fucking demented album. Wrest definitely has his own twisted way of doing black metal.
6Peste Noire
Ballade cuntre lo Anemi francor

Sweet, rockin' goodness from Famine & co. My mom listened to this and thought the 1st and 2nd tracks sounded like all the characters from Shrek sitting at a bar drinking and singing and getting progessively way way drunker as the song went on, good analogy I'd say haha.
7 Vlad Tepes
Dans Notre Chute

Probably Vlad Tepes' 2nd best release after March to the Black Holocaust. Very raw, very wintry, but very melodic and rifftastic.
8Burzum
Filosofem

Rediscovered this album recently, I wouldn't rank it above Hvis Lyset Tar Oss but it's still very very good.
9Blasphemy
Fallen Angel of Doom

FUCKING SATANIC NUCLEAR WAR
10 Leviathan
The Tenth Sub-Level of Suicide

Wrest's 2nd best album, definitely a depressive masterpiece. Not as twisted as Tentacles of Whorror but it has a unique atmosphere to set it apart. Lots of great riffs here and it holds a strong narrative/journey-like feeling throughout.
11Behemoth
Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)

Some mediocre songs aside this is the best material Behemoth put out before becoming death metal. It doesn't sound remotely like the same band, tbh. It's kind of like what you'd get if you took Immortal's first album and mixed it with Thousand Swords-era Graveland.
12 Nargaroth
Herbstleyd

Yeah, Kanwulf is a total poseur and idiot but he did manage to put out some very convincing material. Herbstleyd is IMO the best black metal album to come out of Germany; its only real drawback is the really long spoken samples in German that are pretty much pointless to me because I can't understand them.
13Satyricon
Dark Medieval Times

Listened to this for nostalgic purposes not too long ago and it grew right back on me. The songwriting is a little haphazard in spots but that definitely doesn't stop it from being enjoyable from start to finish. Good blend of black metal and norse folk.
14Summoning
Oath Bound

This album hasn't left my playlist since I got it. Seriously a brilliant, epic, majestic masterpiece of modern music. Howard Shore and Tolkien would be proud.
15 Oubliette
Nadezda

Straightforward depressive black metal from the UK. Very bleak, saddening stuff but it's far too short.
