10.25.09 | i dont know, i think that major key songs can be equally sad/heartwrenching, depends on the execution.
for example, neighbourhood #1 by arcade fire, or staying alive by cursive.
check out: kidcrash - jokes, if you havent already. |
Skimaskcheck
10.25.09 | Yeah agreed on that man haah, was just using minor and major to be more interesting then sad and happy really heh. Jokes is great, but thanks!

I kind of agree with you. Sadder music tends to connect with me more then happy.
But it depends on what mood I'm in. |

10.26.09 | bah, no one uses locrian! who needs a diminished i chord? not me! and actually I use major more than minor but I just use a lot of chromaticism and borrowed chords. throw in a major III and VI and you've got alot of complex emotions, which is why minor keys are great. But there's something that can't beat the pure joy of a IV chord, or the power of a V7. V/V's are great too. so yeah, both are awesome and can be emotional and powerful as hell. awesome list for the most part. |
Skimaskcheck
10.26.09 | Hahah, Lions wins, yay chromaticism! Although what's a V/V? I've not come across that.
I'll get that album Kritikal, thanks. |
Lions
10.26.09 | a V/V (or a Five of Five) is whatever the Five chord is in the key of your current Five chord. So let's say I'm in C, my Five is G, it's five is D. And the D chord is not in C. It's like a major II but it's used to set up your Five chord. God, I love theory : ) |
