American Apparel Ads
If there has to be ads, those are just fine ;)
I'm trying to get some quick reviews out for a few 2009 releases that don't have any yet. I know that I won't be able to hit them all (or even come close), but these are the ones on my list (currently working on The Orb). | | 1 | | The Shizit The Shizit
The best industrial metal release of the year, and it's free. Download the fuck out of it right now: www.glitchmode.com/the-shizit/ (I'm hoping metalstyles will review this one). | | 2 | | Collide These Eyes Before
A collection of cover songs from this goth/industrial band. | | 3 | | Hayley Westenra Winter Magic
Probably the only seasonal album I've been interested in hearing. She has a beautiful voice - for fans of Enya and Sarah Brightman | | 4 | | I Scintilla Prey on You EP
A quick EP to give a taste of what the band's upcoming album has in store. Female-fronted industrial. | | 5 | | Elysion Silent Scream
This band seems poised to try to take over from where Lacuna Coil left off after Comalies | | 6 | | Anneke van Giersbergen & Danny Cavanagh In Parallel
Acoustic remakes of songs from both of the artists' pasts, as well as a few cover songs... probably mostly for diehard fans. | | 7 | | Claire Voyant Lustre
Used to be kind of a darkwave/industrial band, but lately they've moved to poppier pastures. Similar to a subdued Delerium without the new age elements. | | 8 | | D Creation Silent Echoes
Basically they're metalcore, but they have a proggy undercurrent that sets them apart. | | 9 | | The Orb Baghdad Batteries
Ambient soundscapes similar to their U.F.Orb album | | 10 | | French Teen Idol El Siete es la Luz
Great post rock in the vein of God is an Astronaut's first album (this has been on the back-burner for months). | | 11 | | Lethian Dreams Bleak Silver Streams
One of 2009's better doom releases | | 12 | | Omega Lithium Dreams In Formaline
Lacuna Coil meets Samael? I don't know, but it's great industrialized gothic rock. | | 13 | | The Postmarks Memoirs At The End Of The World
I've been putting this off because my knowledge if indie is zero, but I really like this. | | 14 | | Psyclon Nine We the Fallen
Great black metal-influenced industrial. Balls was supposed to be doing a review for this, but it hasn't happened yet. Where is it, Balls? | | 15 | | To-Mera Earthbound EP
Crappy EP from this female-fronted "progressive" metal band | | 16 | | Kate Earl Kate Earl
One of the many good pop-oriented albums to come out this year. | | 17 | | Acylum The Enemy
Dark, oppressive and dissonant industrial with a symphonic undercurrent. Very good stuff. | | 18 | | My Dying Bride Bring Me Victory EP
Crappy EP from this once-great doom band. | | 19 | | Emilie Simon The Big Machine
Slightly more organic approach from France's version of Bjork | | 20 | | Agua de Annique In Your Room
Not the album you might expect from her... the verdict is still out on this one. | |

11.03.09 | Seriously, if you even think you might like industrial metal, go to 1 and copy the link and get to downloading. | Metalstyles
11.03.09 | haha, agreed, if there have to be ads, the american apparel one's are just fiiiiiiiine. Yeah, I'll do 1, but not before the end of the week due to time problems.
Also, some interesting stuff, I've got my hands full atm, but I'll add 12 and 17 to my list. Also, if you've got the time/will, I would really like to see a review for 8 :) | jingledeath
11.03.09 | 1,3,10,11 and 20 caught my interest. Definitely gonna check some of those out, well except 11 which I have but haven't given a listen yet. | WillieFisterbut
11.03.09 | @Metalstyles: Well, I'm going to try to knock out as many of these as possible between now and the new year. I'll put that one near the top of my list. I don't know if 17 is your thing, but 12 should be.
@Jingledeath: Yes, defintely check out 1. That's the lastest album I'm pushing on people ;) It's free, why not? Also, for 3, she has an album called "Pure" - check that one out before this seasonal one. | bloc
11.03.09 | wasn't impressed with 7 :( | Kirgasm
11.03.09 | i really want 10 now | WillieFisterbut
11.03.09 | @Bloc: Their debut was awesome but they've been moving further into pop territory and it's just not as good.
@Kirgasm: Get that and the one before it (the one before it is free). The link is in one of the "Free Music" features. | jrowa001
11.03.09 | hell yeah for 8 and 12. i still need 19 and 20. what's different about 20? ill check out a few of these | WillieFisterbut
11.03.09 | 20 is basically upbeat indie/alt. rock (with a few exceptions).
Hey, if you like industrial metal go read 1. | Zoo
11.03.09 | 11 and 19 are horrifyingly abysmal. | WillieFisterbut
11.03.09 | I like 11 and haven't listened to 19 yet (but I've read nothing but negative things). | MassiveAttack
11.03.09 | 20 has a creepy cover. |
