03.29.10 | Actually, there are only three other Radiohead albums to select from, Prophet: Kid A, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows...because, if you read the list title, these are Cosmonaut's faves of 2000-2009. |
Prophet178
03.29.10 | Yeah and all of those are better choices. |

03.29.10 | Five is solid, but it's nowhere near top five of the decade. |

03.29.10 | I have to smile at Sputnik's general rejection of #1 as the best album of the decade--makes me think that there might be hope for the site after all.
So then, Sputnik, the question is begged: What does SPUTNIK consider the best album of the decade? 'Jane Doe'? 'Blackwater Park'? 'As The Roots Undo'? 'Kid A'? 'Vhiessu'? Inquiring minds wish to know... |
Slipping Away
03.29.10 | 2 yes, 4 is good but not that good, the others I haven't heard/don't like |
FoGownz
03.29.10 | Agree with 1 being in the top 5 of the decade, but none of the others are even close for me. |
Prophet178
03.29.10 | "What does SPUTNIK consider the best album of the decade?"
Wasn't there supposed to be a staff decade list like 3 months ago? |
Masochist
03.29.10 | Prophet - Not sure, actually, though I think I remember maybe hearing something like that. And I know that there are quite a few decade lists from individual staffers/users, but those don't really help when trying to come up with a definitive "Best of Aughts"list.
To tell the truth, I figured Sputnik might choose 'Devil and God...', but so far only three people commenting here have agreed with its position (I'm not one of them; I enjoy 'Daisy' and 'Deja Entendu' more, and neither of those would make my list).
For me...I think '( )' makes a strong case. And as I say it, perhaps people would rather go for 'Lift Your Skinny Fists...' |
Prophet178
03.29.10 | Well judging by that competition Lambda held, Godspeed should be #1. |

03.30.10 | Considering Kid A was a drastic change of sound for Radiohead, it did alienate a lot of fans of OK Computer. Amnesiac was made from the leftover songs from Kid A's recording sessions, so it never would be the best Radiohead album of this past decade and they never expected it to be. Hail to the Thief marked their return back to their rock roots, mixed with some sounds from Kid A, with such greats as "There There", "2+2=5", and "Wolf at the Door". I couldn't find a single problem with HttT, and never will. Kid A and Amnesiac, however, do have flaws. All the filler tracks, for one. In Rainbows, on the other hand, is an exceptional album. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't like it as much as the previous album though. I am a diehard Radiohead fan, and probably know more about there music than you ever will, so don't try to be smart boy. Hail to the Thief is by far their best of this past decade. As for all of you who have problems with Devil and God? Why? If you believe Sputnik would say it is the best of the decade, shouldn't that tell you something? Obviously more people like it and enjoy it than are puzzled as to why it's praised as such. That would seem to be your problem. Spiritual Machines was a critically acclaimed album, and I enjoyed it just as much as the critics. Lateralus is a Grammy-winning band that won for a song 7 minutes long, because it's that good. Fair to Midland is the only album there that didn't have critical acclaim, but I think it's exceptional, and has created a great following that will undoubtedly lead them to great success. 9 by Damien Rice was a contender for that spot as well, but everything else is set in stone. Thanks everyone for reading my opinion and sharing your thoughts! |
