05.04.10 | Oh and rec me something. K thanks. |
Emim
05.04.10 | You have my condolences... |
YouAreMySilence
05.04.10 | Nah I love it, I have no idea what Im doing though. |
Waior
05.04.10 | Awesome purchase. But... uh, what is there to need help with? Snowball mics rule, I want one myself but I'm pretty content with the Shures I'm using. My advice is... hmm. Google Chrome for browsing. Adium for any IMing. Torrent iWork or something for work stuff, the other programs won't cut it. That's about it. |
PayneTiger777
05.04.10 | Fuck Macs. I hate spending two hours trying to figure out how to do something as simple as right click. I have to use the damn things at college. |
Waior
05.04.10 | @PayneTiger - it takes you two hours trying to figure out how to press the track pad with two fingers? |
AnotherBrick
05.05.10 | throw it away and get a pc |
8bit
05.05.10 | I'm saving up for a Macbook. I hope they're worth it. |
Emim
05.05.10 | Pressing the track pad with two fingers won't work unless you're at a starbucks wifi hotspot drinking a mochachocalatte and having your jeans cutting off the circulation to the lower half of your body.
I just have to click the right button on the mouse ;) |
Waior
05.05.10 | hey my jeans aren't that tight man
i honestly believe macbooks are good investments, especially for those interested in creative media production. both systems are nearly equal at this point... but home will always be on a mac for me.

05.05.10 | I had nicer PCs all my life (well, my parents') and using a Mac this year for the first time I love it. I'm a very casual computer user though, if that means anything. |
Willie
05.05.10 | Congrats. Any anger expressed over you getting a Mac is only due to jealousy, and those that won't admit it are just suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
My only advice would be to download the 30 day free trial of iWork from Apple before wasting your time with Microsoft Office. It'll probably do all that you need. Also, welcome to a land that won't require you to defrag, scan disk, and have anti-virus running in the background. Even better programs seem to be a lot easier to pirate on a mac ;) |
Emim
05.05.10 | Any jealousy from me comes only from the fact that I have a 4 y/o laptop, and I wish I could upgrade to a new PC. |
tiesthatbind
05.05.10 | That's right, Emim, support the PC! (high five) |
Waior
05.05.10 | "Even better programs seem to be a lot easier to pirate on a mac ;)"
so true
entire CS4 suite, logic pro studio, final cut pro um yessss |
Emim
05.05.10 | *high five* |

05.05.10 | Mac for life.
The Macbook pro rules, fuck all the stereotypical anti-Apple responses. I hate having to argue with people who still believe that there are things a PC can do that Mac doesn't.
There's really just one thing a mac can't do that a PC can: Get fucktons of viruses and be a total pain in the ass (or expensive, depending whether you can fix it yourself) to fix. |

05.05.10 | the only thing i didn't like about macs before getting one was the inability to right click easily. know how i fixed that? bought a fucking wireless mouse |
YouAreMySilence
05.05.10 | K when I hook up the snowball mic the red light comes on but it does show on the laptop..? |
Waior
05.05.10 | what's the input peripheral on it? USB? 1/4? |
YouAreMySilence
05.05.10 | USB, I think I figured it out though thanks. And recs based on the list? |
Waior
05.05.10 | no i don't really listen to music these days |

05.05.10 | you won't |
BigTuna
05.05.10 | i may |

05.05.10 | @Waior: I was over exaggerating a little bit. I fucking hate the controls on macs. PC's are simpler. |
DiceMan
05.05.10 | I thought I smelled a hipster. |
Waior
05.05.10 | command + U turns off the metronome |

05.05.10 | lol mac |

05.05.10 | "I was over exaggerating a little bit. I fucking hate the controls on macs. PC's are simpler."
no they're not. you have just been using PCs all your life |
atrink
05.05.10 | "stocked" out of your mind? lol |
Emim
05.05.10 | Having used both extensively, PCs are the way to go.
Plus, Macs are EXPENSIVE. Trying to find a Mac comparable to a PC for the same price is impossible. |
Ghostechoes
05.05.10 | A PC running Ubuntu Linux is the way to go.
New Rosetta already leaked, dude! |
ninjuice
05.05.10 | Windows provides a more interactive experience compared to Macs. You get to download security patches at least once a week, reinstall corrupted programs, catch viruses, speak with customer service and throw your PC out of the window in frustration.
Anyways, get these (useless) programs (which I can explain if needed):
iAlertU
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29578
SaveHollywood
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10917
iSight screensavers
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/isightscreensavers.html
Make sure to get comfortable with universal hotkeys (e.g. command+q) and the function keys (F6 and so forth), which make life SO much easier.
I'm still wishing I'd been able to organize a group purchase of Leopard w/ student discount(s) at a previous university where I WANTED to talk to people. |

05.05.10 | *stoked! see brandon! other people notice it too, maybe you'll correct it next time i tell you... |
