| Bohemian Rhapsodies
Now I'm not comparing these songs to Bohemian Rhapsody by any means, but for the given bands, these are probably IMO their most epic, many-part-containing, bohemian rhapsody-esque tracks. | 1 | Coldplay 42
Great song from an equally great album. | 2 | Green Day Jesus of Suburbia
My least-favorite of the songs on this list, although it is still pretty epic for Green Day. | 3 | No Doubt Tragic Kingdom
This is perhaps one of my favorite songs I've heard in awhile. It's pretty much the reason I picked up the CD of the same name recently, and it some some good shit. | 4 | The Offspring Pay the Man
Not as many parts as some of the other ones on here, but still plenty epic and VERY experimental as far as The Offspring are concerned. | 5 | Radiohead Paranoid Android
Now I know everyone on this website jizzes in their pants over Radiohead, and I gotta say I'm not really as big into them as most, but this is still a damn impressive song. | 6 | The Beatles A Day in the Life
Now this song came out well before Bohemian Rhapsody, so maybe I should've retitled the list "Days in the Life" or something else that sounds like a soap opera and put Bohemian Rhapsody on the list instead, but w/e too late now. Also, this is a track which features a rare legit collaboration between Lennon and McCartney in the same song. | 7 | Sublime STP
This song goes all over the place - grunge-ish rock, moderate ska, upbeat ska, and even this odd little slow breakdown part - and all in under 3 minutes. This is definitely one of the best songs in Sublime's collection. | 8 | Sum 41 88
Even though I said that STP goes all over the place, it's got nothing on 88. Holy shit, 88 is the balls and is IMO the best track in Sum 41's collection. Here's the song's rundown: it starts out with a very catchy punk riff, then has an abrupt ballad section before shifting into pop-punk madness. After the pop-punk section (which includes a mini-solo) concludes, the song has a double-bass driven breakdown and then just explodes into a staight up thrashy punkish finale. Although this may seem like plenty to cover in an album (let alone a song), as the hooker-beating Vince Offer would say, "but wait there's more." After you think the song's over, there's about a minute-and-a-half of creepy eeriness with just deryck and a VERY distorted guitar. What a sick way to finish off the "Chuck" album and this list. 88 is the shit. | |
