07.13.10 | objectivity is a measurement of how close to 2.5 your ratings are. For instance, if you have a bunch of 5's your objectivity goes down. |
ShadowRemains

07.13.10 | It's how close the average is to a 3 isn't it? if you add all your ratings up and divide by the number of albums how close it is to a 3 is your objectivity....I think that's right. I know you guys pretty much outlined this already but i had trouble with it at first too so I wanted to make it as clear as possible haha. I don't really care for it though it's quite pointless. |

07.14.10 | Objectivity, in a very literal sense, means to pass judgment that is absolutely not influenced by one's emotions or his/her personal prejudices.
As a reviewer, it's important to be as objective as possible in your reviews and to not allow any of your personal biases to infiltrate your writing. However, this does not mean that your rating has to be 100%, because that would be nearly impossible; instead, you should nevertheless shoot for a reasonable objectivity rating, such as 75% or higher. To be objective, you should only rate albums you have heard, while diversifying your ratings; to explain, it would be wise to have a multitude of 5's, 4.5's, 4's, etc. as well as 2's, 1.5's, and 1's.
so.........idk |

good thing sputnik fucked that up and made it so we can't rate some things a 1 |
Jonnyborg
07.14.10 | In retrospect, that was a really dumb question. 2.5 is average, so it must be based off that.
Anyway, great answers from all, thanks guys.
Although I'm slightly disappointed I didn't get bashed over the white pony bit, HA.
@anotherbrick didn't they do that so people wouldn't vandalize virtually universally well-liked albums? IIRC the lack of 1 as an option requires that a certain number of people rated it a five or some crap. |

07.14.10 | it's like site ranking, just do your thing and don't worry about it |
