Inveigh 08.03.10	Remission and Leviathan are both excellent releases, and when those came out, you could make a case that they were underrated (although Rolling Stone was actually on their nuts just a month or two after Leviathan came out, so they were getting plenty of hype). Now they suffer from BTBAM syndrome, i.e. a good underground band that has a lot of talent and potential gets tons of mainstream attention really quickly because they have a few accessible traits and are suddenly adorned to be gods before they really deserve it. Then they release a bloated, overly theatrical attempt at epicness that just kind of falls on its face (Colors for BTBAM and the last two albums from Mastodon). I would comment on TGM by BTBAM but I haven't even bothered to listen to it.

coleba 08.03.10	I agree with Brand New except for 'The Devil and God...' which I thought was legitimate. Glassjaw isn't really overrated I don't think, I just think their sound is really grating and can tire you out really quickly. As for the metalcore on here that seems fairly obvious, though for what the genre is worth, ABR is pretty decent. I can't get into Converge at all; Jane Doe has a few great songs, but a few seem incredibly mediocre and I wept at them being #1 of decade. And @Maniac!, yes, Botch cannibalizes Converge.

BurningApollo 08.03.10	I do agree with most of this list. I agree with your opinions about Brand New, Avenged Sevenfold, and August Burns Red. All are good enough bands that got too much attention for the amount of talent that they actually have. I don't agree with the comments on As I lay Dying, Protest the Hero, Mastodon and Glassjaw. Sure As I Lay Dying have gone stale with their latest release, but that doesn't mean that all their albums are under a 3. Shadows are Security and An Ocean between us are great albums. Sure there isn't such thing as Progressive Metalcore, but you can't deny that they can fucking shred. The guy's voice fits they guitar playing. Mastodon have slowly progressed from thick, heavy, metal to more of a prog/psychedelic metal sound throughout their discography. Crack the Skye just happens to be more of a popular sound that doesn't mean it's shit, just different. Mastodon has changed their sound and aren't going back. People need to just get the fuck over it. And Glassjaw is talented enough to be called legends, I may not call them legends but they are damn close.

They have written some amazing songs, and Worship and Tribute is a post-hardcore necessity. But let me be clear Fugazi and ATDI are on a level of their very own. Prolapse-I agree but i don't think that logic totally applies with Protest the Hero. Sure Kezia seemed to be repetitive after about 4 listens, but Fortress was arranged and written well. Again I'm not saying they are the most amazing metal band, but the aren't overrated at all imo.

Bands like Killswitch and Unearth were predominately metal to begin with, but on recent albums don't have any hardcore traits whatsoever, other than a few breakdowns here and there. All That Remains, Lamb of God and God Forbid are all just straight-up metal. Constellations is dangerously close to having no hardcore elements at all though.
