| The Da Vinci's Of Music
Artist who created or refined their respective genres. | 1 | Elvis
In the early 50's, Elvis became one of the first artists to break the racial barrier
dividing the rock n roll scene. Thanks to him, R&R started becoming embraced
by the mainstream and became a predominate form of music rather than a
simple passing fad. | 2 | The Beatles
Nearly ten years later, The Beatles hit the English music scene like a train. This
band can largely be thanked for being the first "rock band", in the modern sense
of the term, as they popularized the two guitar, bass, and drum format many
bands still use today. They were also one of the first bands to boast equal
importance of all their members, rather than highlighting just the vocalist. | 3 | Pink Floyd
While it is arguable that Pink Floyd did not invent progressive rock, it can be said
without a doubt that "The Wall" was the concept album that all concept albums
following would be judged against. Pink Floyd were indeed way ahead of their
time. | 4 | Botch
In 1991, metal band Botch fused two genres, metal and hardcore, to create a
new one that would be copied and imitated the entire decade to follow.
Metalcore was born with "We Are the Romans", and was killed nearly ten years
later by "We Came As Romans". | 5 | Brokencyde

09.14.10 | This list encompasses only a few pioneers in music. If your favorite band is missing and you would like to complain, well to bad. | couldwinarabbit
09.14.10 | elvis was a racist who was liked by racist americans who wanted to listen to "black music" without it being done by a black man
the beatles were not innovative in anyway (not saying they were bad) other then the fact the were to first band to become a overproduced media whore. "two guitar, bass, and drum format" see every rock band that came before the beatles
pink floyd (good band can is way better) speaking of german prog rock it was a lot more innovative and done far before pf...and Tommy is the best concept album
don't care about the other 2
list = fail | BradMan

09.14.10 | couldwinarabbit, do sit in your basement fapping as you pick apart lists that are based on opinion rather than set in
stone fact? I think you do.
And yes, this list has nothing to do with the quality of the artists (see Brokencyde), but rather the impact they had on
the music industry. | THIEF
09.14.10 | Haha and yes my name has changed | BradMan
09.14.10 | To quote the late, great George Carlin on Elvis: "Elvis was a bogus white guy with sex appeal and good looks who ripped off a lot of great black music; watered it down and made it safe for lame whites who couldn't handle the experience of raw, emotional black music." | THIEF
09.14.10 | BradMan, this is very true. Elvis in fact never wrote a single one of his songs, but instead only exclusively did cover of
black artists. Remember Hound dog? Big Momma Thornton did that waaaaay before Elvis. To be honest I don't have
much respect for the guy other than the fact that he was the first "performer", and that he popularized rock among the
mainstream (yes this means whites). | Asiatic667
09.14.10 | Who cares if elvis ripped off blackie, once again the honest white man came out on top.
Better than having to listen to boon crap about cotton pickin', lol no racial | Asiatic667
09.14.10 | white guys should stop pretending to like black guys, js | THIEF
09.14.10 | Hmm, so I guess Eminem is a modern day Elvis then right? What will we steal from the blacks next.... | wyankeif1337
