03.06.11 | WTF? Christian Coffee Shop?
Coffee Shops have almost always been anti-religious as they were the birthplace of independent though, new ideas, revolution, learning, revolution, free thought and creativity...you know all the stuff religion tries to get rid of. |

You could say similar things about taverns in America, unless that's basically what you mean i.e. Raleigh Tavern. |
North0House2
03.06.11 | Well, the same doesn't apply for Hitler, cuz he rose up in a bar with a bunch of drunk buddies. |

03.06.11 | It's true though, anyone who has studying European history from the Enlightenment onwards will know I'm right.
It's true, but it was more anti-establishment in general than it was it was anti-religious. |
couldwinarabbit
03.06.11 | Well it depends on the case. The Paris Commune for instance while yes it did take down, or rather remove, the current kingdom/ Religious influence from Paris the policies it invoked were "pro-establishment" then the former regime while the anti-religious aspects remained constant. |
spillingmercury
03.07.11 | The Paris Commune came up in 1871 didn't it? Isn't that a completely different era?
edit:/ Nvm. But the aim was to tear down/reform the existing government in order to bring more power to the working class and had more to do with that than it did with their opposition to religion in general. Opposition to religion was more opposition to the church and its practices. |
