| Masochist's Favorite Albums (as Of 4-30-07)
I know it's hard to really pick favorite albums. But I'm gonna do it, anyways. | 1 | | System of a Down Mezmerize
Greatest. Album. Ever. This album is so damn good that if I hear three songs off of it at one time, I'm almost guaranteed to listen to the whole thing. I've heard this one over and over and over and over again in its entirety, and it never gets old. It's really short...meaning you don't get tired of it after listening to half of it, and you want more (that's what "Hypnotized" is for). System's sound on this is the one they established in "Toxicity" taken to a whole new level...a whole new intensity. It'd be blasphemy for me to choose favorites on here. I can't. Not possible. This c.d. is unbelievable...the best. | 2 | | BoySetsFire Tomorrow Come Today
Didn't like this one at first. But this one is one of the most amazing pieces of music I've ever heard. "Handful of Redemption" is one the greatest songs I've ever heard, hands down. And I've gotten so many good song quotes from them...they're the reason for me looking for other good song quotes by all my favorite bands. Yeah...Boysetsfire is freakin' amazing...I wish they hadn't called it quits. Favorite songs off of hear are "Last Year's Nest," "Handful of Redemption," "Management vs. Labor," "Bathory's Sainthood," and "High Wire Escape Artist." | 3 | | Eminem The Slim Shady LP
If I had to choose, I'd said that "The Eminem Show" was Eminem's best album. But this is my favorite by him. This is the album that basically got me through High School...the one that I had before I bought my own c.d.'s (actually I had all three of his c.d.'s). I remember listening to this when I was like a freshman...now I have it again, and the songs are even more genius to me! So many memories brought back by this one.... Favorite songs include "Still Don't Give A Fuck," "My Name Is," "'97 Bonnie & Clyde," "Brain Damage," "Rock Bottom," and "As The World Turns." | 4 | | Blindside Silence
When I first got this c.d., I didn't like it at all. Then I saw the movie "Grind" and I liked the song that Blindside played on there, and I realized it was on the c.d. I had, so I gave it another try. Good move by me. This c.d. alone puts Blindside in my Top 10 artists list. Unbelievable, it is! I'll be doing something mundane like filing, and a song from here just pops into my head...then more...and more. And I'll just start rocking out while I file those papers. Amazing...can't say much more! Favorite songs include "Pitiful," "Caught a Glimpse," "The Endings," and "You Can Hide It." | 5 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers By The Way
I love the Chili Peppers, and I know this c.d. better than any other one by them. I like almost all songs on here, and I can sing almost all of them word for word. Oh, yes! RHCP gained legendary status with me for with this one. Favorite songs include "By The Way," "Dosed," "Can't Stop," "Midnight," "On Mercury," "Minor Thing," "Venice Queen"...ahh, screw it! Too many to list! | 6 | | Demon Hunter Summer of Darkness
First Demon Hunter album I got really intimate with. It's the one I can really just get into and rock out with. And it turned me onto Demon Hunter in the first place, so it gets bonus points for that. Summer of Darkness doesn't have my favorite song by them on it, but it has lots of good ones anyways, including "I Play Dead," "Not Ready to Die," "Less Than Nothing," and "The Awakening." | 7 | | Linkin Park Meteora
Oh, yes. Good ol' Linkin Park. This was one of the first C. D.'s I ever bought with my own money. I think this is Linkin Park at their most refined. All the songs have a clearer sound, and the singing is more confident than the first album. That, and it has the greatest instrumental song ever. Favorite songs include "Don't Stay," "Easier To Run," "From The Inside," and "Session" (the aforementioned instrumental). | 8 | | Bad Religion The Empire Strikes First
One of their latest albums, and the one that's highest on this list (surprisingly...). This one sees them in a fabulous return to form, as well as showing that they're not playing the same stuff they were playing when they put out "Suffer." Lot of good stuff on here, including "Let Them Eat War," "The Empire Strikes First," "Sinister Rouge," and "Boot Stamping on a Human Face Forever." Here's hoping that the follow-up sounds even half as good. | 9 | | Eminem The Eminem Show
People say that "The Marshall Mathers' LP" is Eminem's best album. I disagree. I think it's this one. The other ones used lots of humor to hide his angst. This one is real, it's him at his purest form. And I can just remember listening to this all the dang time. Favorites off of this one include "Cleanin' Out My Closet," "Without Me," "Hailey's Song," and "My Dad's Gone Crazy." Yeah, listen to this one. You'll thank me later. | 10 | | Bad Religion The Gray Race
This one's probably Bad Religion's best flowing album. And it's the one that probably has Greg Graffin's best songs (I think, anyways). I love it so much...I'd repeat it all the time. And it's the c.d. I listened to when I flew for the first time in so many years, so it has lots of memorability. Yes, this is a good one. Favorite songs include "A Walk," "Parallel," "Streets of America," and "Come Join Us." | |

04.30.07 | Interesting list. Youll get some heat for calling mezmerize SOADs best album. Its good to see Silence on here. Great record. Sleepwalking and the title track are probably my favorite all time blindside songs. | ASberg
04.30.07 | very allround list. Mezmerise is a good album but i never really got into it. Nice to see Blindside. | teamsleep698
04.30.07 | Hmm I usually hate lists like this, but I do give you credit for explaining each album and having a wide variety of genres. I must disagree with mesmerize being SOAD's best album, that spot is definitly reserved for Toxicity. | Two-Headed Boy
04.30.07 | I find The Gray Race to be one of BR's worst, to be honest. ESF is a classic though. | samthebassman
05.08.07 | Excellent list. | MikeShOck
05.29.07 | nice list, but i don't like so much By The Way | Spec

aaaah so badass | Masochist
01.10.11 | I still do love "Session," though I'd never be so fucking naive to call it "the greatest instrumental song ever" today. | couldwinarabbit
01.10.11 | so cute. look how you grew up. | Mordecai.
01.10.11 | did you like hybrid theory as much as meteora? im gonna 5 em both i think | Masochist
01.10.11 | Hahaha...compare to the last "My Favorite Albums" list I did, back in February of '09:
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=248968&listid=22155
Hmmm...I think I'll have to continue the trend and make one for this year...perhaps in March. | Masochist
01.10.11 | And 'Hybrid Theory' was pretty cool; it had "Papercut," which is still one of their best songs...but 'Meteora' was the among the first three albums I ever bought with my own money (along with 'Tomorrow Come Today' and Bad Religion's 'Stranger Than Fiction'), so it had a special place in my heart. | Satellite
01.10.11 | holy old list dude.
10 is so underrated. | Masochist
01.10.11 | Bumped because I (stupidly) asked for it not to be bumped when I linked to it on another list. | DanteCuomo
01.10.11 | bump.
Silence is golden (pun intended) |
