2011 Recs

I realize that I haven't listened to the best albums out there this year. A lot of bands have release great albums and all, but no classics. Took me a bit of time to remember a lot of these albums, and not having the charts before June didn't help. I'll be needing a lot of recs now. Thanks in advance
1Thrice
Major/Minor

The album has what 'Beggars' lacked: balls. Thrice keep the bluesy Grunge sound going on, but make it sound even better. Anthology is definitely one of 201's best tracks
2Oh, Sleeper
Children of Fire

May as well be my AOTY
3 Tech N9ne
All 6's and 7's

This album shouldn't work, but it does, and very well. Tech brings out the best in most o the mainstream artist he works with here.
4Jay-Z and Kanye West
Watch The Throne

Your Reaso
Worked the first listen, but now sounds weird. Jay-Z's verses are definitely not the best things in the world and tend to weigh this album down a lot. It could of been so much more than it is. No Church In The Wild, I have to say, is the best produced mainstream rap song this year.
5G-Side
The One...Cohesive

"Jones" 'nuff said.
6Opeth
Heritage

Where did the DM go, it's so bland, and uninspired. BOOOORING.
7Breathe Carolina
Hell is What You Make It

Above average pop record. Blackout is awesome.
8Thursday
No Devolucion

Have to get back to this one. Really didn't know what to think of it after the first listen.
9Funeral for a Friend
Welcome Home Armageddon
10Architects
The Here and Now

I don't see all the hate. A really respectable post-hardcore release full of hope and joy. Red Eyes is the standout track.
11Dance Gavin Dance
Downtown Battle Mountain II

Elder Goose
12Lil Wayne
Tha Carter IV

He was the one. The chosen one. He was suppose to bring the balance between mainstream and underground hip-hop. Instead, he made another Lil Wayne album. Oh well, it's still good to hear.
13 Snoop Dogg
Doggumentary

He's really not doing anything new here. He hasn't been great since Tha Blue Carpet Treatment.
14Dream Theater
A Dramatic Turn of Events

It's really not doing that much for me atm, should give it another try.
15August Burns Red
Leveler

Yeah, Oh, Sleeper beat them at making the most memorable metalcore album of the year, but Leveler still kicks ass. "Carpe Diem" is a beautiful song.
16Skrillex
More Monsters and Sprites

I know you lost the material for an album. But why not wait to release a new EP instead of giving us 1000 remixes of your most commercially successful song... Equinox is great though
17Cunninlynguists
Oneirology

The album has very proficient rappers, as well as monster beats. a true delight.
18The Devil Wears Prada
Dead Throne

Really not as good as Zombie
19Trivium
In Waves

Not even remotely interesting. Lost faith in this band. Shogun was amazingly good for Trivium standards, pity they couldn't keep this going
20 The Weeknd
House of Baloons

For once, RnB done well
21In Flames
Sounds of a Playground Fading

They need to stop trying to sound like they're in their 20s. They sound really immature on this record...
22Limp Bizkit
Gold Cobra

It was cute, nothing special
23Defeater
Empty Days and Sleepless Nights

So so good.
24 The Wonder Years
Suburbia: I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing

Yes, there still is good Pop Punk out there
25 Tyler The Creator
Goblin

The concept of the album pleases me, haven't given this a listen yet, but can't wait to
26Raekwon
Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang

Still using the Asian flicks to help create his gangsta stories. The album is one of the best of the year
