09.30.11 | Try the Decemberists if you like NMH. Also The National, dEUS, and of course, Fugazi |
InAbsentia
09.30.11 | Thanks for all the recommendations.
Andrew Jackson Jihad seems pretty interesting. Is the new album a good place to start?
Also, I'm not a big fan of emo and post-hardcore, and I already know all the bands you recommended, Jefflebowski |

09.30.11 | The new Steven Wilson album derp.
also The Dear Hunter. |

09.30.11 | Beirut - Gulag Orkestar (much better than Rip Tide, saw you had that rated.)

09.30.11 | @ zxlkhio My name is InAbsentia and you think I haven't bought SW's new album?? haha yeah, it rocks. I just forgot to add it to the list. My brother lent me some Dear Hunter albums and I wasn't impressed at all. |

09.30.11 | I'm too shallow :( |

09.30.11 | Hahaha yeah I figured you'd heard it. You just didn't have it rated so I thought I'd remind you :P
and I recommend giving TDH another chance; they've become one of my favorite bands over the last 6 months or so. |
InAbsentia
09.30.11 | It's just that I usually rate a bunch of albums once a month, which is why I haven't rated Grace for Drowning, Loveless, and Gulag Orkesar..................... Which TDH album would you recommend?
Edit: just rated Loveless |
zxlkho
09.30.11 | Loveless is a 5 man!
I'd say go for Act I or III first because they're more accessible, but I think Act II is their best (it's just that the album is nearly 80 minutes long and it gets tiring). Overall though, you can't go wrong with TDH at all. Every album is incredible in its own way. |
StrangerofSorts
09.30.11 | I see GY!BE. That means I can post ambient.
The Flashbulb - Soundtrack to a Vacant Life
Eluvium - Copia
Carbon Based Lifeforms - World of Sleepers
Nicolas Jaar - Space is only Noise
Brian Eno - Ambient 1: Music for Airports
Enjoy (:
Actually... let's keep going.
Okkervil River - Down The River of Golden Dreams, though most of their early albums will do, it's quite similar to ITAOTS. Better, too, in my opinion.
Radiohead - (insert everything but Pablo Honey here), if you haven't already.
Wild Beasts - Smother
The Dear Hunter - Indigo EP
Manchester Orchestra - Like a Virgin Losing a Child
Aaand that should be enough, if you like any of it feel free to ask for more, we have pretty similar tastes. |

09.30.11 | ...and if you decide to check out The Color Spectrum due to its praise here, go slow with it. 36 songs is a lot to take in at once lol. |

09.30.11 | "There are a lot of hands on this page"
Holy shit, you're right. Probably explains why I've been masturbating to hand porn lately. |

09.30.11 | I just lol'd really hard at the hands thing. I didn't get it until just now. |

09.30.11 | Awesome. I have a huge folder full of bookmarks for new music.
@StrangerofSorts: Thanks for the list! I Spotified Eluvium and they sound great. Instant purchase. And I will listen to rest of the albums you recommended, except for Radiohead, since I already own (and love) all of their albums.
@zxlkho: I'll probably raise it to a 4.5 sometime in the future. Great album. I'm going to go with Act II and see if I like it, because now that I see Act I's cover I remember having heard it sometime and I'm pretty sure I didn't like it. |

09.30.11 | I was just about to mention all the hands... oh wait. |

09.30.11 | knife man is a good starting point for AJJ but then again any of their stuff would be good to start with |
