i half and half agree with you about the dub. I enjoy skrillex just for the club music, or to get a crowd moving. but the older style is (i'm increasingly finding) fucking amazing. people just get protective of their scenes, you know? |

12.01.11 | I know but its not like when I heard Trust Company i was like "Whats happening to my Nu-metal?!" I moved the fuck on, dubstep is awesome but a lot of people thought disco was too, and where is that now? |

12.01.11 | Brostep is a good tag, as it represents well those who hear the club friendly/club popular drops and then go blast it all over town. Wednesdays in my town are host to about 3 or 4 dubstep nights, and the same mixes are played at each venue. The people can enjoy Benga, but the DJ's really like playing other artists as the younger generations have come to expect such. imo |

12.01.11 | to me the reason a lot of newer dubstep sucks is because it's not really an american born genre of music. and when I said dubstep had been around for 5 minutes I meant in strong prevelance like it is today. |

12.01.11 | Holy fuck this list is dumb. You've been into dubstep for 5 minutes (= 3 years?). ALREADY music
snobs have found a way to punish anyone who has found success? First off, 3 years would be a long
ass time, but dubstep hasn't only existed while you were aware of it. But it doesn't matter over
what time frame people have mis-represented the genre. It has never been about the popularization of
any of these artists or their "commercial success". If DMZ, Burial, Loefah, Distance, Joker, Goth-
Trad, Kromestar, Kryptic Minds, etc. would have gotten commercial success, I would have been
absolutely fine with it. We don't hate the commercially successful dubstep artists BECAUSE they're
commercially successful. We hate them because they had to dumb down the genre so that it COULD BE
commercially successful. It's the same pattern that goes for hip-hop, pop, alt rock, etc. People
don't hate eminem's latest album because it's commercially successful. The MMLP was commercially
successful. We hated Recovery because it had to dumb down his style to a simplistic forced "angry"
sound with poppy choruses from guests like Rihanna. |
