Favourite Albums Of 2011
In no particular order
1
Zee Avi
Ghostbird
She's pretty, music's pretty. I approve.
2
Yuck
Yuck
Aside from the horrific artwork this album is tops. They do sound quite similar to dinosaur jr. but dammit the tunes are good so I forgive them.
3
Tycho
Dive
I like to relax when I'm coming down.
4
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that Reznors subtle instrumental work trumps his exceedingly unsubtle NIN work. Creepy stuff.
5
Submotion Orchestra
Finest Hour
Massive Attack style trip hop. But more romantic and soulful.
6
R.E.M.
Collapse Into Now
R.E.M. have had something to prove over their last two studio efforts and have been largely successful. A suitable swansong.
7
Mogwai
Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
I just really like Mogwai.
8
Maybeshewill
I Was Here For a Moment, Then I Was Gone
Upbeat, emotional instrumental hard rock. Less metal riffs and vocals than last two albums.
9
Mastodon
The Hunter
More concise than last album and more hard rock with some prog rock moments. Mastodon Rocks.
10
M83
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Poptastic shoegaze electro. Should be the biggest band in the world!
11
Radiohead
The King of Limbs
I hate talking about Radiohead. They're Radiohead.
12
Bon Iver
Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Filling out the sound of the debut album with a full band and eighties electro.
13
Laura Stevenson and the Cans
Sit Resist
Sometimes I listen to a band and like the music and then singer puts me right off. This does not happen with Laura Stevenson.
14
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins
Diamond Mine
Sounds real.
15
Eddie Vedder
Ukulele Songs
Intimate stuff from the Pearl Jam frontman.
16
And So I Watch You From Afar
Gangs
I want to be in their gang.
17
Tom Waits
Bad As Me
Kiss Me is an awesome, awesome track.
18
Son Lux
We Are Rising
One man and his imagination is a formidable thing.
19
This Will Destroy You
Tunnel Blanket
More atmospheric than their previous album but just as enthralling.

Thought this was going to suck but it's actually pretty good.
