Hello Sputnik, Goodbye '11

New user here and wanted to start things off with my personal list of favourite albums in 2011. Since it took me almot a month to register I'm sure I'm pretty late but oh well...
10Submotion Orchestra
Finest Hour

Smooth! (Is that word still in?) This is an amazingly beautiful, relaxing and awesome album. The band does a good job in their crossover of jazz and dubstep while Ruby Wood is a simply breathtaking vocalist.
9Steven Wilson
Grace For Drowning

It's Steven Wilson. 'nough said.
8dEUS
Keep You Close

Their best since The Ideal Crash. And this coming from someone who fully enjoyed their last two records.
7Fair To Midland
Arrows And Anchors

Weird, wacky and entertaining to the max. There is so much variety and quality to be found on this record.
6And So I Watch You From Afar
Gangs

The most fun I've had with anything close to PostRock this year. They just kick more ass than their peers.
5Sylosis
Edge Of The Earth

Less Metalcore and more badass. Tons of great riffs, impressive soli and Josh does a good job at shouting/screaming.
4La Dispute
Wildlife

A honest and spirited attempt to create an entertaining Screamo-Storybook. Even if they tend to take the drama a bit too far, La Dispute are thrilling and manage to fascinate with their delivery of youth, violence and grief.
3Deafheaven
Roads To Judah

I never thought that something relating to Black Metal would ever hit me as hard as this one did. Relentlessly aggressiv beauty. Or to borrow a line off Unrequited: Bowing to a monolith of grief.
2Pianos Become The Teeth
The Lack Long After

An emotional ride through and through with one of the most satisfying musical catharsis I've heard in years.
1SORNE
House of Stone

The final thing that made me join sputnik because if it hadn't been for the review posted here, I'd never heard this stuff. Impressive Avantgardepop with unique instrumentation, an interesting story to tell and a voice that shakes the very core of my human being.
