Jasdevi's SUPER MODEST 2nd quarter list

As a quick disclaimer, this list will also include stuff mixed in from the 1st quarter that I didn't listen to then but have now. List is very small, I know but w/e. Feel free to rec me stuff you think I might like based on what's already in here (not obvious stuff though like Kamasi Washington, Hiatus Kaiyote or Paradise Lost, I will be listening to those anyway).
29Purity Ring
Another Eternity

Super boring, but also actually very weak in the songwriting department imo so 2/5
28Sigh
Graveward

Poorly produced and it just overall sounds really obnoxious and bland as well. 2/5
27Boris
Asia

I do like noise a little, but not this kind of thing. Probs not going to listen to the other two since it appears they're the same kind of thing. 2.3/5
26Kamelot
Haven

It's a Kamelot album that isn't Epica or The Black Halo so yeah nothing that interesting. 2.5/5
25PeeWee Longway
The Blue M&M Vol. 2 (King Size)

Held back by the fact that Longway doesn't do anything particularly attention grabbing or interesting at all throughout the entire thing, but the production is sweet. Also could really have done without all the plugging for datpiff holy shit. 2.8/5
24Death Cab for Cutie
Kintsugi

As interesting as these guys are going to get atm by the sounds of it. 2.9/5
23Sun Kil Moon
Universal Themes

What a huge disappointment. 2.9/5
22Geek Sleep Sheep
Candy

An improvement on their debut, but not much of one. Basically almost gazes but the atmosphere is wasted a lot. It's pretty tight for the most part but considering who the members of this supergroup are (minus Kazuhiro Momo who doesn't really interest me and is the main reason this project is so boring), this should be more than this. 2.9/5
21Emika
Drei

Kinda catchy, kinda soothing, but also kinda boring. 2.9/5
20And So I Watch You From Afar
Heirs

Boring post-rock that's just instrumentally interesting enough to be listenable. 2.9/5
19Young Fathers
White Men Are Black Men Too

Not huge on this, but pretty catchy. Also album name of the year hard. 3/5
18Anekdoten
Until All The Ghosts Are Gone

Prog worship, it's aight. 3/5
17Envy
Atheist's Cornea

Better than Recitation, due to both its length and that the band's overall performances have stepped up, but nearly all of the stuff that I got sick of on Recitation and Insomniac Doze are still here. 3/5
16Sulphur Aeon
Gateway to the Antisphere

Cool H.P.Lovecraft worshiping death metal. Not huge on it, but it could grow on me.3.1/5
15Runaway Brother
Mother

Cool emo rock, nothing amazing but pretty good nonetheless. 3.4/5
14T.M.Revolution
Ten

Exactly what's come to be expected of Nishikawa at this stage. Superb pop hooks and awesome vocals, not as good as the stuff he did around the middle of his career and way too long for it's own good, but still a great pop album. 3.5/5
13Millicent Waffles
Beaver Creek

While I think this is my least favourite release under the Millicent Waffles name, mostly because I don't like what the drums do for the atmosphere, this does have quite a few pretty sick moments. 3.5/5
12mewithoutYou
Pale Horses

Pretty good, pretty good, I dig it 3.5/5
11L'Orange and Jeremiah Jae
The Night Took Us In Like Family

Smokey hip-hop, kinda sounds like the musical equivalent of orange dark chocolate, I nearly like this as much, if not more than the new Kendrick tbh 3.7/5
10They Might Be Giants
Glean

I know this has been getting a pretty bad rap, but imo this is the strongest TMBG have been since they returned to being an adult oriented band again, it's better than their last album in any case. 3.8/5
9Elvis Depressedly
New Alhambra

Better than Mickey's Dead, so really good. 4/5
8Hop Along
Painted Shut

Solid indie rock kinda stuff, love the vocals and lyrics and the rest of the music is pretty strong too. 4/5
7Sadness (USA)
The Rain That Falls Alone

Super atmospheric depressive black metal, a true display of how lo-fi works to create atmosphere. 4.1/5
6Marriages
Salome

Damn good stuff, just the right amount of gaze and pop appeal at the same time. 4.1/5
5Lost Salt Blood Purges
The Voids We All Long For

Awesome user made noise/ambient/experimental stuff. 4.1/5
4Prurient
Frozen Niagara Falls

so good fuuuuuuuuuuu it hurts to hear but it's so damn enjoyable and the variety of material on it is pretty impressive. Did not see myself enjoy a 90 minute pe album, but damn was I wrong. 4.2/5
3Blur
The Magic Whip

The reason I like this so much is probably because it sounds so much like Damon Albarn's other projects he's been doing as of late, amped af for the new Gorillaz after hearing this. 4.2/5
22 8 1 4
新しい日の誕生

At this point, vaporwave isn't anywhere near as interesting as it was at first, but this is a damn good ambient album more than it is vaporwave imo, highly recommended. 4.4/5
1Akhlys
The Dreaming I

Been getting into black metal quite a bit this year and I really enjoyed this. 4.6/5
