Alternatively just make sure you have the money for it saved up in advance if it's something you generally want to do. Also, Michelin starred places don't all cost the same - in Chicago, if you do Alinea or Ever, it'll set you back over a thousand if you also spring for wine pairings, but something like Sepia you can do for a couple hundred all told, which is expensive but not devastating if you put a little aside for it.
Although the bigger hit places are also incredible to do on rarer occasions and can be an experience like nothing else |

07.27.23 | I learned to live pretty frugally by necessity after having to move out of my parents without any financial support in my very early 20s, and those habits have mostly carried over into further adulthood even as Iāve gotten slightly better jobs and more disposable income. My biggest costs are still rent, food and gym membership and I donāt really buy much else otherwise, except for the occasional clothing or book purchase, or taking my partner for a meal at a restaurant (I could happily go without restaurants lol). I donāt smoke or drink any more, so that helps the bottom line too. It helps to make your hobbies things that positively improve your life - the gym and cooking are my two biggest time sinks after work, followed by reading, music and gardening. |

07.27.23 | Honestly my biggest wastes of money are paying bills early to realize i forgot about a bill that was due yesterday and could have paid it. That is a big waste but im not good at handling every aspect of responsibility and just do the best i can. |

07.27.23 | 'how is that a waste'
I mean, it was a joke, but yes it's actually entirely possible to waste money on those things if you make bad choices, lol
I tend to waste money on beer and sometimes eating out, mostly.
I rarely buy tangible physical items and or clothes unless I need them and even then I'm generally stingy / reluctant / try and get decent quality stuff at a discount. Savings often go on things we need doing to the house / other 'boring grown-up shit'. So I'm actually not too bad with money overall. |
