I'm making this list on my phone so I'm just going to add the corresponding albums first and then do song titles. I thought it would be easy, but as it goes with large rankings it gets hairy killing the darlings. Toughest I think is 40-60. If y'all wanna guess the song placements as I add the albums in, that'd be fun.
Well, everything but The Anatomy Of because I view pretty much all of those tracks as on the same level and there's no need to add cover songs into the mix of their canon discography when they're all pretty much equal amongst themselves. Maybe after I'm done with this I'll just do a group ranking of the songs here. Also, I think this is my first reverse order list!
Whew! As I look over the final product I started thinking what a Neurosis 'every song ranked' would be like. Anyone care to take that behemoth on?
I really liked those remasters they did for the early albums, so I wanted to highlight those. It makes listening to them as fun as when you first heard them, but idk why.
Shit, you're right. That's a tough one because it's been so overlistened that sometimes I'm just so ambivalent about the first half, but the second half/outro literally always makes up for it. It looks ridiculous beneath 'The Primer' and 'Medicine Wheel' , but those two songs always grip me (still), from start to finish. But Selkies outro is still so tight, so it's a tough toss up.
Oh wow I disagree massively with loads of this.
Alaska at 69 and Selkies at 40 nahhhh
Alaska and Silent Circus will always be my favourite BTBAM albums though
Hm, don't think I heard that about The Anatomy Of but I can see it. I thought that the contractual album was something else like that Best Of, and Hypersleep to an extent.
tbh if i were to have made this i would have combined the foam borns, viridian/white walls, mirrors/obfuscation etc.... i think those shorter tracks being ranked as high as they are individually kinda throws off perception
