10.25.23 | Limelight- Rush
A perfect rock song. Great riffs, great drums, nice clean melodies and soundscapes. The production on that whole record is immaculate as well; everything is so clear and distinct. Of course, there are so many perfect songs but this one came to mind immediately. |

10.25.23 | So many times I've said a song is perfect of it's my favorite song. I've made a playlist of songs I consider meeting this criteria for me and they are all wildly different in mixing, style, subject matter, etc. They are mostly "popular music" choices from things like Boards of Canada to Godflesh to Billy Strings, no classical or jazz. Still interesting.
just a few I probably consider absolute fav or perfect:
Dinosaur Jr. - Ocean in the Way, probably my favorite alternative rock song, very emeotional in the lyrics, voice and guitar
The Dismemberment Plan - Ellen and Ben, I feel like some of the more quality pop-punk acts took a lot away from this band
Yo La Tengo - Big Day Coming, very shoegazy and unless someone wants to correct me, I don't hear any percussion in the song whatsoever. Really takes you on a journey and paints a picture of a young band
Ween - Mourning Glory, I.. simply didn't know these sounds were possible
Built to Spill - Randy Described Eternity, I cry everTim |

10.25.23 | idk why I didn't add it to my comment but Talk Talk - I Believe In You is my favorite song OAT. The imperfections are perfect, the simplicity once broken down is more complex than first listen, the choir fits in perfectly. not a single flaw in that song |

10.25.23 | The Drones - Shark Fin Blues
Perfect building narrative blues-inflected rock song. Bands have been trying to capture this particular sound since the late 60s, nobody did it until a lil Australian garage outfit after the turn of the millennium. |

10.26.23 | ive always loved the way after the party flips its chord progression in its two choruses with one being major and the other being minor, and then also have the playing style in the drums shift to reflect that change. makes a huge difference and its part of why thats their best song |
Nomos2
10.26.23 | One comes to mind because he REALLY deserves the views/listens but is unknown outside of my local area.
His album "Solace" is just about perfect front-back for me. Imagine IDM/Drum & Bass, but sung front to back with melodic ethereal vocals that shine with tons of little punctuating gem moments in each song (sometimes then padded by hypnotizing instrumental stretches). Structurally, it's composed more like a modern prog metal album.
He's a friend of a friend who worked on every single Mass Effect game and Anthem before jumping ship from BioWare. You can really hear his audio engineering skills in full effect here. It sounds like a dense beast in headphones. It's euphoric front to back, and I normally couldn't stomach anything in the genre.
But one track is a favorite of mine because the "chorus" just sounds like Anberlin and that makes me happy.
