artiswar 05.27.19	I still basically enjoy all the same nu-metal I liked when I was a dumbass teen, I just listen to it far less often because my palette has expanded a lot over the years. I still enjoy some Otep, Kittie, and Linkin Park on occasion. I feel 0 shame about it, but I maybe should(?). Sometimes the music that affected you when you were really young still resonates in some weird way when you're older. There's something very intimate about it, but I guess that's just nostalgia.
Larkinhill 05.27.19	I’m the same way in that I like a lot of what I listened to when I was younger. But I think a lot of it is just nostalgia. Linkin Park were an amazing band PERIOD, and I feel no shame saying that. It’s true.
artiswar 05.27.19	I dislike most of what LP did after Meteora, but they definitely had some bangers early on.

Larkinhill 05.27.19	Fair enough. I’ve been a fan of most every album — only ones I’m a bit meh on are OML and Living Things — I did like LT a lot when it came out but it grew off me. It almost sounds outdated or something. But even though, I have OML at a 3 and LT at a 3 or 3.5. Chester was one of my favorite artists, hands down. Sucks what it came to, but I personally know how dark your thoughts can get when you have depression. It lies to you.
artiswar 05.27.19	@50iL lmaoooooooo @Lark I did dig Thousand Suns a decent amount, and parts of MTM, but almost everything else I couldn't stand. I think that group really lost their way, but hey, we're talking nostalgia here, rationality is not really in the picture.
Larkinhill 05.27.19	I do think they didn’t know what to do after ATS. They wanted to do something different but didn’t know what. I don’t think they were fully invested in Living Things. But they needed to put out an album and that’s the best they could come up with at the time. And Hunting Party is awesome, but it did feel like a kinda desperate attempt. So I agree they seemed to lose their way after ATS. But The Hunting Party is awesome. You’ve listened to it right?
artiswar 05.27.19	I did listen to HP cause I heard it was a return to form, but I didn't really enjoy anything about it other than hearing some live instruments on an LP album again. I hated Living Things beyond belief, never bothered jamming OML cause the singles were very weak. Cried my eyes out alone for a solid week after Chester bit it though.

Larkinhill 05.27.19	Cried my eyes out alone for a solid week after Chester bit it though. Yeah man I’m with you. Luckily, I live in LA so I drove to his house in Palos Verdes . Beautiful area btw. Left some flowers and a very personal note for his family and one for him also. There were of course tons of flowers, letters and drawings there. Talinda (his wife) tweeted thanking everyone for leaving flowers and cards etc. Said they were reading all the letters (whether that’s true or not is a different story). Gotta say man, it was really heavy going to the house where he killed himself just three days before. Almost too heavy. But I’m really grateful I live in the same city and was able to do that. To pay my respects. I’m not a religious guy at all but I feel and would like to think that he “got” all the mementos that were left there.

Did you take any pics while you were there? Seriously you should make a list about it and spend some time doing a write-up about that imo. Glad you got a real chance to pay your respects, I did not. I was just utterly blindsided by the whole thing and I never really talked about it with anyone even though I was kind of used to the rash of beloved celebrities dying in 2017 by that point

Larkinhill 05.27.19	Also forgot to mention that I got to see the Chester Memorial concert. It was extremely emotional but cathartic. I’m not that tech savvy so I really don’t know how to, but if you can tell me a way to share the photos from his house with you, I could. I didn’t take any pics of the house or anything (felt creepy with his family being inside and I’m not the paparazzi), but just a few pics of all the things left outside by people. The outpouring was fucking huge. First we lose Cornell then Chester. Was too much.

Larkinhill 05.27.19	Fuck, it only uploaded one. I posted three but it’s really more of the same so this one should do. Most definitely his Suicide contributed. Tragic man. Two of my favorite artists so close together. Really makes you feel like you lost a piece of yourself when they died. I know how melodramatic that sounds, but that’s the truth.

artiswar 05.27.19	I don't know if you watched LP's final show, but it ended with a minimalist piano rendition of Crawling (which is not a song I ever cared for much), and it's like the most beautiful yet depressing thing ever. I challenge anyone not to tear up.
Larkinhill 05.27.19	Yeah I was at Chester’s memorial show at the Hollywood Bowl. Extremely emotional and cathartic.

Larkinhill 05.27.19	Dude I’ve always loved Crawling. It’s the song that got me into them when Hybrid Theory came out. I’ve been an addict off and on for 20 years so that song really speaks to me.

Larkinhill 05.27.19	I was in the middle. Favorite performance was actually Oli doing Crawling. Sounded amazing live. He killed it.

artiswar 05.27.19	Dude, yeah. The way he sang Crawling that night it's like he was saying goodbye to the fans. It's seriously sad.
Larkinhill 05.29.19	Absolutely, but the most emotionally wrenching moment of the show was when he went out into the crowd and sang One More Light. I consider that his final goodbye to the fans. They were touching/hugging on him while he just sang/poured his heart out. It’s just fucked up to realize that even then, he obviously knew what he was gonna do. He was just waiting for that break between the European tour and the US leg. I had tix to the show at the Hollywood Bowl that October. It was going to be my daughter’s first show.

artiswar 05.29.19	some armchair psychology, I think it was his way of distancing himself from the crowd. I think he chose that outfit so people wouldn't notice as much how visibly upset he was probably getting at times while performing. I much prefer his old casual look when I can still see the vein popping in his head while he's going to town
