Future Band Influences...
Here are the influences for my future band. Hopefully I'll have it
going by this summer...I have my fingers crossed... |
1 | The Replacements
I'd love to have the energy these guys had, plus the amazing lyrics and music, minus the horrible fashion
sense...or lack thereof. |
2 | Big Star
I'd want the ability they had to make power pop and sweet melodies rock harder than you thought "power
pop" could. |
3 | Wilco
Think Being There - Summerteeth. I want that quazi alt country (but believe me, I hate country)/ 60's pop
sensibility. |
4 | Ryan Adams
Lyrics and vocals here...plus the genre bending, chameleonesque ability to make great music from all
genres. |
5 | The Clash
Here, I want the energy (but yeah right, how am I ever going to be able to match The Clash in the passion
departement?) and the politicized/socially aware lyrics. |
6 | Gin Blossoms
That great interplay between the distorded and almost clean guitars, ahhh....that would be great if I could
get it to work... |
7 | The Who
Substitute, Won't Get Fooled Again, Bargain. I want that anthemic three cord rock, without sounding to
"classic rock" |
8 | Paul Westerberg
Lyrics...lyrics...lyrics...and again, lyrics...pure brilliance. |
9 | U2
War era lyrics and sound. Again with the politically inspired lyrics, and |
10 | The Rolling Stones
Kieth Richards...nuff' said... |
