Feeling a slight doom metal itch, and it feels like a genre of metal I haven't really explored too much. I was gonna riffle through Hawks' rec list but he deleted it :( |

Nice chunky guitar tone, like the gothic/funeral doom touches here and there. Only problem is it feels like they were reeeeaaaally stretching for that 66 minute, 6 second runtime. Some filler being shaved off woulda been great.

lol 128kpbs rip that's been sitting around on my computer since 2010. What better time to start listening after a proper bit rate reacquisition? Normally this kind of super slow tempo isn't my thing but this is where masters of their craft push through that aversion and slap me in the face for being lame. Really nails those oceanic vibes, don't fuck with the sea.

Another one I've had sitting around since forever. Well this is the right time to listen to it after finally hearing all 6 classic Black Sabbath albums after Ozzy died, since this is very Black Sabbath with a fuzzier tone. It's kind of nice but idk I think Sabbath would have switched things up more.

Vocals aren't that great, but these riffs sure are. Nice half and half of doom and heavy metal; so like the Black Sabbath mixing it up more often wish I mentioned on the above entry? These guys do that.

Super atmospheric, currently a fourth of the way through and not fatigued at all. Judging by my last writeups, I think my main problem is if the band gets stuck on a riff for too long. So far they're dwelling on the musical ideas at an appropriate length. Love the pedal effect or whatever on the bass to make it sound like an electric guitar. I don't really get the haters unless they don't usually put on music while (attempting) to do something else like I do? Maybe if you were sitting down to jam this and not in a meditating mood you'd get frustrated, but with this being sideground music I can't help but get sucked in to their dreary world.
