10.24.17 | List is also (mostly) albums I've been digging a lot lately. Hope everyone is having a decent October so far. |
XingKing
10.24.17 | Why is the first Evil Dead and Army of Darkness on here but not Evil Dead II? A couple of these don't qualify as horror in my opinion but I support the idea. |
Aerisavion
10.24.17 | Where the FUCK is John Carpenters The Thing. |
Hawks
10.24.17 | Yesssss best time of the year. m/
I've watched the original Halloween, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream in like the past day and a half. Gonna put on 31 this morning when I get off work. |
XingKing
10.24.17 | List definitely needs The Thing and Alien. Two best horror films ever made, IMO. |

10.24.17 | always a good idea. gonna start tonight with the acclaimed stuff from this year I missed (A Ghost Story/It Comes At Night), then work backwards to some more obscure stuff over the next week. seen all the classics so many times, I need some niche shit |
XingKing
10.24.17 | A Ghost Story isn't a horror, so just be prepared for that. It's more of a low key philosophical drama with a bit of eeriness to it. I'd watch Rooney Mara eat a whole pie any day of the week. |
Rowan5215
10.24.17 | ye dw that's my favourite variation of horror a lot of the time
also, what up bb |
DungeonBoy
10.24.17 | Some good stuff here. House of the Devil was a great movie.
For some fun horror movies check out:
Basket Case (1982) - https://youtu.be/jbaDt75y3Ac
An American Werewolf in London (1981) - https://youtu.be/bRVH3z_erjA

10.24.17 | @XingKing yeah I'm not sure if The Reef & those David Lynch films qualify as horror but they're close enough for me. I watched Evil Dead 2 late last month so I'm just tryna round out the rest of them, it's my favorite for what it's worth haha.
In regards to Alien & The Thing, I live in New England so The Thing is one of my snowed in by a blizzard movies(also The Shining,Misery,The Hateful Eight). Alien is one of my favorite horror films.
@Hawks Fuck yeah, TCM is a masterpiece. It's hilarious how Part 2 is excessive in every way that the first one isn't. Scream and Halloween are also excellent of course.
@Rowan I've been skeptical about It Comes at Night from the few reviews I've seen but I'm definitely interested in it. lmk what you think.
@DungeonBoy I wouldn't say I hated Basket Case but I really wasn't that big of a fan. It's a solid enough 80's b-movie haha. I loved House of the Devil. Nothing else I've seen by Ti West has come close to how much I enjoy that movie but he's a damn good director. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.17 | 12 is the most metal shit ever
Also I am jealous that you have a drive in movie theater. I went to one once in Florida back in the mid 90s but I don't remember it very well. |
neekafat
10.24.17 | Shining is an 8/10 overrated |
TheSonomaDude
10.24.17 | The Thing is the greatest film of all time so it is a necessity |
Egarran
10.24.17 | Dead Alive is like the perfect movie. No wonder he went on to direct LotR.
The Haunting from 1963 is oldschool cool.
Recently watched The Babadook and was positively surprised, despite it featuring an über-annoying kid.
Cabin In the Woods.
Also Anya Taylor-Joy is delicious in Split. |
DungeonBoy
10.24.17 | Right on dude. Have you ever seen The Blob (1988) https://youtu.be/sixDADVVnxA awesome movie. If you can't tell I'm a big fan of practical effects. |
TheSonomaDude
10.24.17 | my gf doesn't really like horror movies but she lists The Thing and The Blob in her top 25 favorite movies
yeah The Blob rules too |
Egarran
10.24.17 | I need to see that so much. |
calmrose
10.24.17 | SUSPIRIA
also, Rosemary's Baby |

10.25.17 | @Lucca It's pretty awesome. Seeing all those classics on the big screen feels like watching them for the first time again.
@neeka Fair enough
@TheSonomaDude Can't argue with that. It's my favorite Carpenter film without a doubt.
@Egarran Anya Taylor-Joy was great in The Witch. I was down to check out Split as soon as I saw she was in it. Babadook is surprsingly good, it's almost more of a drama masked as a horror film.
@Dungeon Dude I gotta check out Dead Alive still. Same with An American Werewolf & The Blob but 'Bad Taste' was so good, I can only imagine what Dead Alive is like. Practical Effects are the best man, I watched the Fly for the first time last night and the effects in that are incredible. The inside out baboon had my fuckin skin crawling.
@calmrose Suspiria is pretty dope. I heard they're doing a remake soon and the director is going for a different direction from the crazy ass use of primary colors in the original. Kind of a bummer. A coworker recommended me Rosemary's Baby a few weeks ago, he said it's almost more of a drama than it is a horror film though. It looks pretty great. |
DungeonBoy
10.25.17 | Yeah man! Bad Taste is great, gotta love Peter Jackson. You'll love Dead Alive, I guarantee it. The Fly is such a good movie, I need to rewatch it soon.
Unpopular opinion, I watched Hellraiser for the 3rd time on Saturday, and honestly I think that movie is... okay. The cenobites, the lament configuration and the whole lore that Clive Barker came up with is wonderful, the transformation scenes are so amazing, but there's just something lacking about that plot. I can't put my finger on it. I enjoy it a lot, I just think it's a tad overrated. |
BeyondCosby
10.25.17 | Saw "Lights Out" the other night. I was surprised by how good the beginning was, but it really falls off once they start getting into the origin of the ghost. |

10.25.17 | im with u there man the jason movies are actually hella tight, spike used to marathon them back in the day every october it was awesome |
Egarran
10.25.17 | DB, I'm with you on Hellraiser. Those movies don't do much for me.
But I strongly recommend reading Clive Barkers's Books of Blood. Short and excellent horror stories. |
DungeonBoy
10.25.17 | It's sitting on my shelf :) currently reading Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult, but after that I should dust it off. |
Spluger
10.25.17 | @Dungeon I'm not too big on Hellraiser either. I've only seen the first two but like you said the lore & cenobites are sweet, the story just doesn't do too much with them. That scene with the guy on the bed in the second one is fucking horrific though. It goes on for sooooo long!
@beyondcosby I saw the short film when it first came out. Wasn't sure how down I'd be to watch the full length film but I've only heard good things.
@chuck Hell yeah dude. Sure Halloween started the slasher craze and the Nightmare on Elm Street movies have Freddy, but the Friday franchise has something neither of them do. Consistency. |
