Kansas City hc/punk
While Lawrence, KS was more of a hub for hardcore punk rock in the 1980's, it never had that rmany bands of its own. Since the turn of the century, the hardcore scene has shifted to Kansas rCity. These are the top ten releases to come out of the KC hardcore/punk scene since it became rprevalent not too long ago. |
10 | | No Master No Master
Best d-beat band in the midwest, no fuckin around. Try listening to this without
slamming in your room and shaking your fist. |
9 | | Nuke Cult Join Or Don't
This year's best demo. These dudes don't give one shit. Ghouly 80's hardcore with
RoboCop 2 influences. |
8 | | Meat Mist Smut
Sloppy weirdo noise punk. |
7 | | Sucked Dry Sucked Dry
Crazy d-beat, powerviolency punk band. They have a new LP out, but the EP hits a
lot harder in my opinion. |
6 | | Kicked In In Session
KC's other now-defunct straight edge band. My personal favorite KC youth crew
album. |
5 | | Sorry Excuse Listen With Prejudice
One of Kansas City's first straight edge bands. Same vocalist as Spine, but now
broken up since half the scene broke edge pretty much. |
4 | | Spine Subhuman
The best youth crew-type band in town. Spine draws a lot of influence from
Warzone and bands like that, but cut most of their songs down to less than a
minute. Best record on this list if you're more hardcore than punk. |
3 | | Dirty Work Dirty Work
One of the most pissed off 7"s I've ever heard. Sounds a whole lot like Necros. |
2 | | Dark Ages (US) Can America Survive?
Dark Ages started as a pretty simple punk band but some of the odd, twisting riffs
and incredibly tight drum playing on this album make you think of Die Kreuzen.
Kansas City's most progressive band by far. |
1 | | No Class Keine Klasse
Fast, loud snotty, and a bit of an Oi! influence in some parts. A perfect hardcore
punk record in most respects. |
