Dude was also in a coma for like 6 months last year (from an unrelated, near-fatal scooter accident -- you read that right, a scooter accident). When he finally recovered from that, he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

As an aside: I'll always remember that "Can't Stop/Fill me In" song that dominated MuchMusic for what seemed like a year. In retrospect it was definitely one of the most tolerable Canadian-content (see: shitty Canadian knock-offs of popular American artists/bands) songs they've ever latched onto and promoted as "Canada's Next Big Thing."
