Portishead Working On New LP

2010-07-01 by East Hastings | 23 Comments
Bristol Trip-hoppers Portishead have announced to BBC 6 Music that they are going to begin work on a new album soon.

Geoff Barrow confirmed that the band would start writing for the LP, the follow-up to 2008's "Third", this summer. "I'm writing for Portishead through July and August," said Barrow. "I just want to bang on and get another record done."

Barrow went on to reveal the group had signed a new record deal, and also explained how he thought they didn't fit in with the British music industry any more:

"It's with a major. It's with the biggest record company in the world," he said. "It's with people we trust, which with a band is the most important thing. We did the 'Third' record, it did incredibly well. We got very little support from the UK as we don't represent a certain demographic of people, but we did Coachella [festival] and that was amazing."

As of now, the release date or the name of the album have yet to be announced. Fans are probably hoping that they don't have to wait 11 years, as they did in between the band's 1997 self-titled LP and 2008's "Third".

I loved Third, and I'm stoked for another album.

But
"I just want to bang on and get another record done."
I dunno how I feel about that attitude =
