Protest the Hero: Detained! 2006-10-25 by Tyler EMERITUS | 22 Comments | Luke Hoskin, 1/5 of Canadian Metal act Protest the Hero, has been detained at the Vancouver US border, preventing
him to continue on their current tour with Trivium and the Sword. In September, Luke (Guitarist) was caught with what
bassist Arif considers "dust in a bag", which translates to roughly 0.2g of marijuana. Despite having paid a fine, and
crossing the border several times since (this occurred during their September tour with Avenged Sevenfold), Hoskin
has been sent back home and is prevented from entering the United States for the time being.
The band has hired an immigration lawyer and plan to continue the tour as scheduled. Hopefully Luke will be back to
join them sooner rather than later.
On the issue, singer Rody Walker had this to say:

pretty vital role. So those of you coming to the remaining shows be expecting a down-hearted, some-what empty

Unfortunately we've had to pull out of tonight's show in Seatle to get our shit together, we're sorry.
The hatred coursing through my veins right now is electric enough to reanimate a small corpse... But in the true spirit
of Rock and Roll,
I fucking quit.
No, we venture on through the deep dark jungle in search of ancient mayan Treasure, while young Mr Ruthless takes
flight upon the wretched silver bird in search of his place of origin.
"Fly... fly high, mighty Ruthless... your name will always be remembered by the people of the enchanted lands... and
your memory will march with us forever against the hordes of the black lord for the salvation of the enchanted lands.
Goodbye, brother... goodbye...!!"

AP posted unconfirmed information about Matt Heafy possibly filling in, as well as the band asking anyone willing to fill Luke's place.
That was completely made up, so I didn't throw it in.
| | | 0.2g? what is that like a bowl?
nonetheless, border security is teh ghey.
| | | Anyways, I basically took the article from AP, talked to the band and re-wrote it with some minor changes. Only my second news post, let me know if it was adequate.
| | | Protest the Hero is the best band on the tour.
| | | I would have to agree with Thor. Kezia was incredible I'd absolutely love to see this band live
oh and very adequate post cocaine, stuff like this is definitely worth postingThis Message Edited On 10.25.06
| | | Tip: don't see them without Luke.

[/QUOTE]
It's a bit more than that. It's close to 40$ worth.
| | | That sucks, I'm seeing them on Sunday. Oh well.
| | | 40$? That gets you at least 4 grams
Not a fan of this band, with or without original bassist.
| | | So I don't know the band that well, I'm guessing Luke is one of their guitar players?
| | | Shit yeah, guitarist. I added it to the summary but not to this actual news update.
| | | About 10$ per gram is the going rate where I'm from, and that's in a country with the metric system. Then again, its also pretty much legal.
| | | I'm moving their immediately.
| | | HAHAHAHA, $40 for .2g? I don't pay any more than $3 a gram...
.2g is basically the part of the sack you just throw away, because there's not even a bowl left.
| | | Drunken Viking I don't know what your smoking if you pay $40 dollars for .2 grams. For $40 you get 8.8 grams at least. Unless you have White Widow or Northern Lights
| | | fucking metric system. all i know is i pay $30 cdn for a half-quarter.
I like how the topic of conversation has been completely derailed. This Message Edited On 10.26.06
| | | welcome to the musicians forum marijuana thread
| | | I was about to say... we have more people bitching about drug prices than the actual band lol
| | | what? protest the hero sold .2g for pot for $40 while converting metric to fill a bowl??
WTF?
what was the question again?
| | | man this made me realise something. I've been constantly talking down the imperial system and thinking i've been using the metric system 100% (im from canada) but ive been buying in denominations of ounces! what's a ounce in grams?
| | | I saw them last night. They only played four songs, one being a cover of Propagandhi's "Fuck the Border".
They had some guy fill in for him. They said he was from the area. Even though they played little, they rocked hard. I wish I could have seen a whole set :/
| | | I think it was the guy from Strung Out who filled in.
