It's a shame to me, personally. I liked what he was doing with his solo work quite a bit. It's been a while since I've heard some new listenable pop/R&B
that said, he'll be back.
|
| |
Thats sad.
|
| |
feel kinda sorry for him
|
| |
I really loved Soul Punk. I really thought it'd make it better, and it's really sad to see what people
have been doing to him. He's such a nice and talented guy.
|
| |
Poor guy. Fans can really be vicious.
|
| |
ahhh, what a shame.
|
| |
That's unfortunate. I liked his solo stuff and he has a really great voice.
Pretty lame that people show up just to heckle him.
But as far as finances go... Well, I dunno. It just doesn't seem like you should really be expecting big returns from music anymore due to downloading and such. Sure, maybe if you're Lady Gaga or whatever but... Well, sorry, Stump isn't there. Fall Out Boy wasn't even there.
That's not saying you can't be successful as a musician, but it is saying that you've got to modify your expectations to reflect things. It's unfortunate, but true.
|
| |
sucks cause this guy can sing his ass off
|
| |
and fans turning on them at concerts
hmm i don't know anything about this. anyone care to elaborate?
excellent article andcas.
|
| |
meh. fob always sucked
|
| |
he stopped trying to be cool a long time ago
|
| |
not to say I'm not sorry for him, I am, but couldn't resist a dig at fob
|
| |
FOB did suck, but I still feel sorry for him
|
| |
Damn, I do kind of pity the man. I've always been a Fall Out Boy fan.
|
| |
damn that sucks. people are dicks
|
| |
"he should really start a hardcore band"
great idea, that would scare all the gay, single minded FOB fans away as well
|
| |
i know plenty of gay dudes who like hardcore bands js
|
| |
what I mean is, it would open up a new audience who weren't mad at him for his solo stuff not being like FOB
|
| |
Good singer, not a fan of his music and never really have been. Still, that's shitty to deal with emotionally.
|
| |
Since he went solo, he was getting shit for gaining weight.
But seriously, who really gives a shit?
|
| |
"fans loathed the last album and would nearly boo them off stage."
that's ridiculous because folie a deux one of fall out boys best records.
|
| |
Wow, that's actually really depressing.
|
| |
@andcas I thought that there were a few die hard FOB fans that cared about their roots and then legions of so-called fanboys/girls who dug IOH coz it was poppy?
|
| |
ahahahahahahahaha fatty got laughed at
|
| |
I still jam Infinity on High and idgaf
|
| |
pity. i liked soul punk.
|
| |
Reading the post in full made me feel even worse for him.
It's like if half the world heard you pissed your pants in class in 2nd grade and refused to let you live it down.
|
| |
I've always enjoyed most of their singles, never actually listened to a full record tho
|
| |
I really wish this was about Pete Wentz
|
| |
i feel bad for him, but when are solo careers of ex poppy emo frontmen ever successful?
|
| |
I never cared for FOB or any of his stuff, but I still feel bad for the guy... I was expecting some lame reason for it, but this is really a valid reason to leave. Hopefully things look up for him.
|
| |
Damn, I feel bad for the guy. He's always had a great voice.
Shame Soul Punk failed so hard. I checked the sales, and 9000 copies sold in the first week is terrible. Especially considering he put a lot of his own funds into the making the album.
SMH at "fans" also turning on FOB. Folie A Deux was a great record.
|
| |
he stopped trying to be cool a long time ago [2]
|
| |
"brought on by guilt trips for losing weight"
The stupidity of fanbases can truly be baffling at times.
|
| |
Weren't members of FOB and that guy from Rise Against in a hardcore band together?
but yeah I really hope he doesn't give up music because that'd be really sad.
|
| |
Musician receives criticism, may quit music?
In the meantime he will continue to make music
|
| |
really good read, pretty sad though
|
| |
Just condensing the article for anyone who doesn't want to read through several paragraphs of tears
|
| |
dang man thats pretty sad
hope things get better for him
|
| |
lol xD Sick Comeback Dude
|
| |
This... depresses the shit out of me.
|
| |
Ten years late
|
| |
fu-ck-ing awful news
And I didn't think Folie A Deux was that bad
If I ever hear someone say stuff like that I'm gonna fucking punch them in the throat
that said, this is brilliantly written andcas
|
| |
my love for this guy goes back far
I can tell ;]
|
| |
never liked his music but nobody decent should have to go out like that
|
| |
This is why I tell people, even if you don't like an artist don't go out of your way to insult them, just let them do what they want, not everyone can make music you like
|
| |
Wow never listened to his solo stuff for whatever reason but this is just sad.
also
everyone needs to get over themselves and bring back fob.[2]
|
| |
wtf some fans actually hated him for getting thinner? what?
|
| |
really sad
|
| |
I'm a fan. I'll pay 30 dollars for a show to insult the artist.
Fuck people.
|
| |
He's only 27? Shit man, seems like FOB disbanded so long ago.
|
| |
Pretty fucked up what the fans did to him, even tough i'm not a fan of his solo stuff this is pretty backwards
|
| |
Wow, talk about emo. A fitting end.
|
| |
"but I think that’s probably just pent up poor-me emotional pessimism talking (I suppose can be excused of that though right? I am the guy from That Emo Band after all)."
|
| |
andy hurley's in Enabler now and i hope it stays that way for awhile
|
| |
you don't even know what emo is. It's a melodramatic blog post.
|
| |
people are terrible sometimes.
|
| |
whoever you think
is watching you dance from across the room
they aren't.
|
| |
So Fall Out Boy broke up because their last album sold ONLY 500,000 copies?
|
| |
great article man. this sounds really lame, Fall Out Boy fans are just the worst.
their stuff was hit or miss for me but I liked them more than I disliked them.
|
| |
Foli was pretty bad though
|
| |
bad enough you would send death threats and buy tickets just to yell shit at him for it?
|
| |
"and buy tickets just to yell shit at him for it?"
not going to lie, back in high school three of my friends and I considered buying tickets for a Simple Plan show just to yell shit at them and make fun of their fans but then we realized that was insanely lame so we didn't
|
| |
"It's a melodramatic blog post."
you gave lulu a 5 and attempted to justify it
|
| |
feel bad for the guy. hope he makes it through this stuff
|
| |
Musicians always need to be prepared to receive criticism. But to that level is a little much. It seems like he's taking it really hard. I was never a FOB fan but I hope he can find success with something.
|
| |
Lol, Scoot. You're still upset about not being able to understand that album? Don't worry, man. Your literacy skills will improve over time and one day you will definitely be able to enjoy Lulu. Just keep at it, trooper.
|
| |
As always, your logic is irrefutable.
|
| |
AsoTamaki's my fav troll atm
|
| |
This is pretty sad because he can sing.
|
| |
Hm, not sure. It seemed the most believable after edit #3, imo. This final version is questionable.
|
| |
Nah, "With Arms Wide Open" is far more satisfying after gulping down some bro powder.
|
| |
This sucks! I've always liked Patrick's unique voice.
|
| |
27 years too late
|
| |
Kinda sad. Really talented dude.
|
| |
fucking terrible, if this were me i would be pretty crushed too
|
| |
this is sad and i dont even like Fall Out Boy, he is immensely talented.
|
| |
It is very sad knowing. Patrick is very talented and it's too bad people don't see that.
|
| |
Poor guy, hopefully Fall Out Boy stays dead
|
| |
thanks for the memories
|
| |
im STUMPED as to how he remains so positive.
|
| |
yeah i wonder how PATRICK copes with it
|
| |
didn't realize this guy was so young, isn't pete wentz like 30-something? i feel sorry for anyone that's a has-been at 27, the dude should be at the height of his career right now. makes me wonder what justin beiber will be like in 10 years lol. stump's new stuff has admittedly been pretty shitty, but early FOB is sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. hopefully he can put out another under the cork tree or something, but still, i suppose its better to be a has-been than a never-was.
|
| |
This makes me really really sad. I still listen to Take This to Your Grave all the time and even though I was not a big fan of their other stuff he is obviously a talented musician and vocalist. Hope he gets through it.
|
| |
Wow. I never really was into Fall Out Boy, just not my cup of tea, but he was a good vocalist. Regardless of your stance on musical preference, this is a shitty thing to do to another human being, especially when being considered a "fan".
Hopefully things get better for him in the near future.
|
| |
i dont understand how im overweight and people make fun of me for it but then this guy loses weight and people are like YOU WERE BETTER WHEN YOU WERE FAT RABBLERABBLERABBLE
people are so fucking dumb
|
| |
Bummer. I love this guys voice.
|
| |
Wasn't keen on his solo stuff.... but his a very talented and unique musician. Loved Fall Out Boy, not even calling it a guilty pleasure. (Fall Out Boy emo? lol)
But yeah that sucks...
Maybe a post hardcore genre would be interesting. His music is interesting enough, plus his a great vocalist.
|
| |
Posting a blog response to this article in two secs
|
| |
i dont understand how im overweight and people make fun of me for it but then this guy loses weight and people are like YOU WERE BETTER WHEN YOU WERE FAT RABBLERABBLERABBLE
Because awful people will be awful people and are never satisfied with other people. Also, fat Stump = Fall Out Boy era.
|
| |
I couldn't care less if he is a fat lard or a twig
As long as he stays as cool as he's been
|
| |
man that really sucks
|
| |
Liked Fall Out Boy when I was 12 (not a dig, truth), don't care much for them now.
But that's still pretty sad. Comes with fame in pop music though, I suppose.
|
| |
I couldn't care less if he is a fat lard or a twig
As long as he stays as cool as he's been
Well, yeah, that should be the case with all musicians but unfortunately whatever fans that have been hassling him obviously believe that he's changed for the worse because his physical image has. They associate his new image with the musical direction they don't like, and have decided to attack that along with his sound.
|
| |
yea fuck his non-fat ass what is he creamer
|
| |
Being in fall out boy finally caught up with him.
|
| |
not a fan of his solo material, but i've always enjoyed FOB and it's a shame that shit isn't working out for him.
|
| |
Aw, I like Patrick. That's such a shame. Even checked his twitter a while back and was definitely going 'all or nothing' on Soul Punk. Pop isn't my genre, but I love his voice.
Thanks for the memories man
|
| |
Not really a fan, but that sucks that people are showing up to shows just to heckle him. I bet FOB gets back together in
the next few years though, has a hit single, and goes on a big tour that earns him a ton of money. So I can't feel that
sorry for him.
|
| |
A real shame, but I can't help but feel that if FOB get back together, Pat will be there for it.
|
| |
Darn it! He was on to a winner with Soul Punk.
I had already imagined what his sophomore was going to sound like, ironing out all the creases of the debut, maybe some brass instruments.
What a shame. =(
People can be so cruel.
|
| |
Great article, sad news. He should start a new band, do some tours and have fun. His record was sweet, though.
|
| |
Shame he cant sing live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FccXA0VsXz8&feature=related
|
| |
Best article I've seen in awhile. Nice job andcas.
|
| |
Wow, what a shame. FOB is a very polarizing band... people think they suck ass, but they also have a nice fanbase.
For the record, I think Mr. Stump is an incredible singer, his voice is comparable to that of Prince's and he can play the shit out of his instruments.
But some of that stuff described is simply unacceptable. What the hell's the matter with the world?
|
| |
I'll forever remember him for singing on that awesome Misery Signals song
RIP
|
| |
Yeah this is sad news indeed. FOB fans are fucking stupid, and his solo album was surprisingly great.
|
| |
Brendan Kelly of the Lawrence Arms wrote a lengthy open letter to Pat Stump today...
http://www.badsandwichchronicles.net/2012/an-open-letter-to-pat-stump/
good read.
|
| |
people have been saying that he "can't sing anymore"
i don't understand where that is coming from. the most recent thing i heard his voice on was that Transit song that released late last year and he sounded fucking awesome in it.
i feel awful for the guy, really. fans can be fucking malicious
|
| |
Fall Out Boy reunion please
|
| |
Both blogs made a good read
|
| |
Fucking hell, this sucks. Fall Out Boy are one of my favourite bands
|
| |
Fall Out Boy was actually pretty great going along, Infinity on High is probably one of the best pop-punk albums I know of.
Shame he went through this shit, his music was always well done and sounded like it actually came from the heart.
|
| |
