Misha Mansoor reveals new tracks

2014-08-31 by GringoSuave89 | 28 Comments
Microsoft/343 Industries has announced that Misha Mansoor (Periphery/Bulb/Animals As Leaders) has contributed two new tracks for the remastered Halo 2 Anniversary, which is part of the Halo Master Chief Collection. These tracks will take the place of Breaking Benjamin's and Incubus' original contributions.

Along with Mansoor, original contributor to the Halo 2 soundtrack, Steve Vai has also contributed to a rerecording of the Halo 2 theme. Vai recorded his tracks along with full orchestral accompaniment at Skywalker Sound.

These tracks, as well as a full rerecording of the entire Marty O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori score, will be released in physical and digital formats on the day of the game's release, November 11th 2014. A two disc cd and a limited edition vinyl edition are currently planned.

A clip of both artist's contributions can be heard here (skip to 25:13):

Can't stand Periphery, but not many heavy guitarists can say they've done this.

The Incubus and Breaking Benjamin songs were tight as hell and this sounds like it'll go well but I'm hoping they're not going to George Lucas up this anniversary release too much

Halo 3 was the best. I remember playing the hell out of it.
Isolation, Guardian, Sandtrap. All good maps.

A little disappointed that the Incubus track won't be included. I really loved their contribution to the game.

For those a bit bummed that Breaking Benjamin and Incubus are out, you can still hear their tracks in game. Halo 2 Anniversary lets you switch seamlessly between classic and updated graphics, and the remastered audio and classic audio switch as well.

If you're the sort of person who spends money on a HD reissue you probably deserve it.

My favourite childhood memories all relate to playing Halo 2 with my brother and getting really, really good at it. My brother and I played compulsively and followed all of the new glitches and shit. So much fun. Halo 3 was the last "great" Halo game. The last one that actually felt like it belonged with H1 and H2. I'm so glad they're releasing this HD remake. I will not play another Xbox game for years if they pull it off correctly.

Couldn't stand the inclusion of Incubus and BB back then, this is a lot better. PUMPED.

Different strokes for different folks. I loved every campaign (yes, even 4) but it's the multiplayer that keeps me going back.

Then again, I also play COD's campaigns so I guess I'm stupid.

nah its all good. For me 3 was the pinnacle of the series. Reach was just weird but had a sweet campaign.
4's multi is like 3 without the charm but it's a step in right direction.
