Rage in hiatus, Refuge is born 2015-02-06 by dynamic range police | 13 Comments | Due to musical differences between the members, the current line-up of German metal band Rage
disbanded. Fear not, anyway. Peavy Wagner, singer and bassist, reunited with Manni Schmidt and
Christos Efthimiadis. The three men make the acclaimed line-up that operated under the Rage
moniker to create five lps, the first being Perfect Man (1988) and the last being The Missing
Link (1993).
The "new" band will be called Refuge.
That said, the Rage moniker is not dead.
From Peavy:
Hi Rageheads,
due to misleading rumors in the past few days, referring to the future of RAGE and LMO, I would
like to give some more clarity.
My split from Victor and André does NOT implicate the end of RAGE! On the contrary, soon we
will set sails again with a new Line-Up. More news to follow.
REFUGE is a blessing for me and my two friends and bandmates, and will continue to exist. We
are looking forward to the festival summer of 2015 (and beyond)
Both bands, RAGE and REFUGE are going to be present alongside and will even complement each
other. With REFUGE we are serving all the oldschool metalheads out there, whilst RAGE is
covering the whole
musical spectrum that I have built up in the past 30 years.
LINGUA MORTIS (LMO) I created in the early 90’s and we celebrated our first release in 1996.
Equals to RAGE, LMO is an important part of me and I will put in the same amount of passion and
creative energy as I have done in the past.
I promise that I will go ahead with RAGE in a high musical quality. With REFUGE we will travel
back to the early days and with LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA I will continue the Metal meets Classic
part of
me.
I can’t wait for what will happen in the near future, I feel freed and I am full of creative
energy. In that respect I want to say THANK YOU for your trust and support.
See you soon.
Yours Peavy

Thanks for the post Sabrutin. Everything I'd read about the dissolution of the current Rage lineup the last few days, was highly misleading.
It's so good the old 1988-1993 Rage lineup is back as Refuge. The Missing Link is a speed/tech thrash metal classic.

| | | seriously though this kinda sucks
soundchaser is such an awesome album
| | | Rage will not disband, the band will be put on hold until a new lineup is formed.
That's what I'm getting out of Peavy's statement.
| | | super original names they've crafted

Thanks, I tried to correct the error but the spacing went crazy. Guess I'll proofread three times for the next article, haha.
I don't see why Peavy needed to create a new name though, what could be Rage if not, well, Rage itself?
| | | What I got out Peavy's statement is that he will reactivate Rage sometime in the future, whereas he needs to play old school Rage material with Refuge.
In these times of crisis, the more outfits one's involved in, the better I guess.
| | | Furthermore it looks like both major bands (without counting Lingua Mortis) will have a Rage sound, so these events won't affect us (as listeners) that much, except maybe some waiting time for new material. Let's wait
and see what happens, consistency is not really a problem for these guys.
