New Benga EP

2016-02-26 by anarchistfish | 16 Comments
British dubstep producer Benga has released a new ep, Future Funk, his first release since taking time off to treat his mental health.

The EP takes a more house-based approach than the bass-driven dubstep the producer is known for.

Future Funk is available on soundcloud, but there is no word yet of a physical release.

it's alright overall, but Power is the only track which really grabs my attention

i think the tracks suffer from a bit too much repetition and not enough progression

good to see he's in a good enough place to be producing again

They definitely suffer from repetition. Plus the sounds and structures are pretty generic.

All house music tends to be repetitive (that's not a shot, btw), but yeah, these are not good songs.

Well of course, the genre is largely based around repetition. However, it's actually entertaining when it's done right...and Benga isn't known for house music anyway.

yeah repetition isn't necessarily boring it just depends on the execution

i do enjoy his other srtuff and it's good to experiment but this is just a bit uninteresting

Agreed, you actually kinda need repetition in dance music, otherwise it defeats the purpose.

It's good to have him back but yeah, these tracks are pretty weak.
