On facebook the band are calling him out for being a bellend
|
| |
Sounds like someone's ego got bigger than the band. Sucks. These guys were pretty good.
|
| |
what's their side of it?
|
| |
Lead Singer Disease.
|
| |
"titled Blood, Sweat & Whiskey."
Nope, it's 'Steel, Wood and Whiskey.'

Hell, man. At this point, they should just stay dead. It's clear that they're not getting along, their last album was pretty average and cookie-cutter, not worthy of the two albums that came before it.
Finch, I loved you, but it's over ;_;
|
| |
"On facebook the band are calling him out for being a bellend"
damn I need to see this
and I saw it, nice
|
| |
The band isn't broken up. They confirmed on their Facebook they're gonna do a 15th anniversary tour of What It Is to Burn.
|
| |
Yeah, but without Nate?
|
| |
Yeah. I was reading some of their comments on the Facebook page, and it looks like they have the singer from Senses Fail.
|
| |
I swear this is the default Sputnik news entry.
|
| |
I mean, based on the band's side of the story it sounds like it's a good thing Nate isn't with them anymore. The way they make it out to be is that he had no interest in being a part of Finch, we'll never know what actually happened though. Maybe the band were the dicks in this situation. I'm interested to see what happens though. If Buddy from Senses Fail really is gonna play with them that'll be neat for sure.
|
| |
Demos are pretty good. Glad to see he released them instead of letting them disappear/rot on someone's hdd.
|
| |
No way Buddy Nielsen could perform any songs off SHTS, good thing it's an anniversary tour for WIITB
|
| |
Judging by the two songs the band released versus the nine tracks Nate released, it's pretty clear they wanted a more marketable, mainstream sound and he didn't. His demos are all in the vein of SHTS and a weirder direction, and the other two are very poppy, WIITB-inspired songs. Linares, Pappas and Wonacott have dismissed SHTS and/or commented on not really digging the SHTS direction (Pappas got fired/left over it originally) before, they're going full 'nostalgia act' and Nate/R2K's trying to still write interesting original stuff. On BTO they sounded like a band that was musically not on the same page, here's the proof.
|
| |
Well, they'll always have Say Hello To Sunshine at least. I really hope Nate gets another project together soon. He seemed to be the one driving for more experimentation.
|
| |
Man, it really looks like Say Hello To Sunshine still has an effect on this band. It is such a shame that a band can get punished this much for pushing their limits.
Anyways, R.I.P. Finch, Say Hello To Sunshine will still be one of my favorite albums of all time.
"Yeah. I was reading some of their comments on the Facebook page, and it looks like they have the singer from Senses Fail."
Yuck. What a downgrade.
|
| |
The song from their side project with Buddy is pretty bad too
|
| |
That song they released is the epitomy of genericore

lovely title

Had to throw a wink at my longtime fellow sputnikers
I'm a fucking grandpa here
|
| |
Yo these demos Nate released are bringing the Sunshine vibes HARD.
|
| |
Contra is a fucking jam wit peanut butter
|
| |
nates demos definitely seem way better than the rest of the band's demos. makes me think he didn't like their direction. like wtf Black Mass is really good.
|
| |
I'm just curious why, according to the band, nate disconnected from the other members back in January, waited countless months to finally get confirmation, but if nate has pulled this stint before (twice ) why prolong it?
|
| |
Judging by that craptacular single from the new band trying to ape WIITB to the hilt, that's a good call
|
| |
Well if they finished recording around Fall 2015 and the album sessions/release politics went as bad as they sound like they did, him losing interest around January sounds about right.
|
| |
nate needs to find a long term band that he can agree with musically that'd be the dream
|
| |
Wonacott is doing an AMA on Facebook in the comments lol
Confirmed they wanted to be more accessible, he didn't
|
| |
the said in the comments that the 15th anniversary tour was a joke about how back and forth the band is
|
| |
I don't really get SHTS vibes from the demos Nate posted, but they have a darker mood so I get why some would say that when compared to their other albums. Like the demos way better than WIITB and Back to Oblivion tho by far
The 3 other songs posted on the bands facebook suck tho lol would rather listen to WIITB if I wanted pop punk Finch again
|
| |
SHTS is so underrated. Such an amazing album and huge step up from WIITB. Bummed they're calling it quits but let's be real, they were never going to write anything remotely close to SHTS. Oblivion sucked.
|
| |
"but let's be real, they were never going to write anything remotely close to SHTS."
the band said this in an interview before oblivion came out. so it was a conscious decision. also SHTS aint underrated everyone knows how amazing it is.
|
| |
"also SHTS aint underrated everyone knows how amazing it is."
It wasn't well received by Finch fans or critics when it came out and Finch is always associated with WIITB.
|
| |
demos are so much moodier than the almighty SHTS but they are awesome. beats the generic SPEAK THE TRUTH and the rest of the demos the band posted. #TeamNate
|
| |
What it is to Burn is amazing, but that's about it
|
| |
WTF bloc
WIITB is good, but SHTS is awesome!!
Also, I'm digging these demos, they sound good for demos too, quality-wise.
|
| |
I suppose I should listen to that one again
|
| |
"the band said this in an interview before oblivion came out. so it was a conscious decision. also SHTS aint underrated everyone knows how amazing it is."
Maybe on here they are not underrated, but they got blasted with negative reviews with Say Hello To Sunshine. I actually found a couple old reviews online a while ago that just rips into the album. I know I have said this before, but its the same situation as Weezer with Pinkerton and The Refused with The Shape of Punk To Come. They created an album that showcased their growth and vision as musicians, and it ended up destroying their careers.
|
| |
As someone who doesn't really like Finch besides SHTS I think the Speak the Truth single is really good. Sure it's not really innovative but they nailed making Let it Enfold You sound new again. However if Buddy wasn't singing on it it would be significantly less good, and likely just mediocre, as the other musicians seem to be holding back a bit. But Buddy Nielsen is one of my favorite vocalists and it's really cool to see him to return that style again, always nice being reminded that he didn't completely destroy his cleans recording the Bayonet stuff.
Sucks that the band broke up but I think it's safe to say they weren't going to write anything close SHTS again anyway. They haven't gotten along in a long while.
|
| |
These demos are fantastic
|
| |
AHAHAHA AKA Finch ditched their front man for the Senses Fail singer. Buddy Neilson is a better front man anyway so this was needed. Speak the Truth is like the old Senses Fail and Senses Fail is an entirely new band compared to their old stuff.
|
| |
Disturbed > Finch
|
| |
Holy shit, Storm, those are fighting words.
|
| |
These guys should've stopped after SHTS. Everything after with the exception of the EP was nothing like their earlier work.
|
| |
I wanna give Storm a wet willy for those comments
|
| |
haha not as bad as saying you want to put a bullet in some guys head you don't even know
|
| |
Holy Moly these demos are nice. Why do the other members hate creative interesting songs so much LOL
|
| |
Am I the only one that preferred the live 10 year anniversary version of WIITB over the original?
SHtS is still amazing[2344242847]
|
| |
they're popular enough to make a 10th anniversary release of something?
|
| |
Damn, I forgot about these dudes. I guess Nate did too.
|
| |
Phantasma demos are fantastic, the two other demos posted by the band sound really boring and safe. Hope Nate finds a band that is on board with making something creative as opposed to cookie cutter.
|
| |
I actually dig one of the demos the band posted, but it pales in comparison to the ones Nate posted. Black Mass sounds like it could fit perfectly on SHTS.
|
| |
These new demos plus the demos from the world of violence record sound like an actual progression to SHTS, too bad the rest of the band doesn't want to return to that sound :/
|
| |
Shame they still couldn't keep it together because those demos are great. I really doubt they're coming back again after all this drama, but I'll never underestimate scene bands' ability to milk that sweet reunion money...
|
| |
doubt they'll come back probably realized they suck
|
| |
Say Hello to Sunshine > your fives
|
| |
cool story
|
| |
I wouldn't want them to come back if all they're going to do is keep cashing in on WIITB anyways.
