straight up in disbelief @ how good high as a kite is
| |
thats the most frustrating thing about rivers
| |
These singles have been up and down but daaamn, High as a Kite is really good.
These 2 are better than the last 2, hype.
| |
Yeah song and video are both so good, damn
Living in LA is awful tho
| |
Got mixed up lol.
High as a Kite and Can’t Knock the Hustle are the ones I dig.
| |
Zombie Bastards is still great and y'all sleep on it but yeah Kite just blows everything else away
| |
When the fuck are the rest of Weezer going to stage an intervention for Rivers about how god-fucking-awful his lyrics are?
| |
Soooo booooooooooring
| |
I actually think all the singles so far have been at LEAST decent. Slightly excited for this album.
| |
Man, "inconsistent" is the best word to describe this band.
| |
The albums gonna be a solid 3.5/5
| |
On one hand I hate how arrogant and egotistical Rivers is.
On the other hand I can't complain because he can back his arrogance up with talent.
| |
So "High As A Kite" proves that Weezer are still capable of writing great alternative, they just choose to be a shitty pop band now.
| |
High as a Kite is the only good song from the Black Album so far
| |
Can you imagine how hyped I'd be right now if they never did Living in LA or Knock the Hustle, and instead of releasing two shitty albums just never put out Pacific Daydream, and instead subbed in Mexican Fender, QB Blitz, and Weekend Woman? Album would be shaping up to be better than the White Album. Shame they rushed out these two albums instead of taking the best cuts from each and putting out something worthwhile.
| |
Also and if instead of forsaking what every fan wanted the Black Album to be (gritty and twisted like Pinkerton) they called this something like, I dunno, "Ocean Waves and Blue Breezes" or some Beach Boy-esque bullshit, and then sat down for 5 years and wrote a seriously dark album and called it the Black Album?
Weezer, you can contact me anytime at sowingsputnik@gmail.com, I'll be your new manager and you guys probably won't make as much money but when you all die people will actually remember you as a band with integrity and standards. Your move.
| |
I think we all need to come to terms with the fact that Weezer will never make another album like Pinkerton, it's not a moneymaker.
| |
This is not going to be EWBAITE level but it will probs be better than Pac Daydream
Worth a shot
| |
Also Weezer are really turning into Coldplay aren't they
| |
Their turning into what everybody wanted Coldplay to be after Viva la Vita yes.
| |
what?
| |
High as a Kite is the only good song from the Black Album so far [2]
| |
That fucking video for High as a Kite lmao
| |
''Mr Rivers Neighborhood'' ? And the kid in the audience amazed at River's presence, rofl
| |
Living in LA is terrible
| |
Also and if instead of forsaking what every fan wanted the Black Album to be (gritty and twisted like Pinkerton) they called this something like, I dunno, "Ocean Waves and Blue Breezes" or some Beach Boy-esque bullshit, and then sat down for 5 years and wrote a seriously dark album and called it the Black Album?

...yikes, dawg. textbook entitled fan isn't really the best colour on you. not sure how them releasing a more generic album more people would like has more integrity than following their muse to make two very different albums but aight
| |
Lol Rowan you're taking me too seriously. I thought the sarcasm was self evident, was mostly meant to be a silly rant (with a slight accent of truth of course).
| |
yeah if that was sarcasm I totally missed it, my bad. in my defense a salty Weezer fan posts something like that in full seriousness every day
| |
can't wait for them to announce that its a double album with a pop cd and an actual weezer cd
| |
should probably listen to this band
| |
""Ocean Waves and Blue Breezes" or some Beach Boy-esque bullshit"
lmaooooo
| |
3/4 isn't bad so far. Not a fan of Living in L.A. but I dig the rest of them.
| |
Yeah I re-read it and can see why maybe it seemed like a cringey rant lol. I do wish they'd take the breeziest, summery tracks and pull them together, and then do something other than suspect pop anthems for the Black Album - all admittedly my own preferences of course - then the rest was purposeful overexaggeration (like my offer to manage them).
| |
Black has a jazz-influenced track (Byzantine) as well as one where Rivers addresses the post-Pinkerton discography from the perspective of a fan (I'm Just Being Honest) so yeah I don't think this is all simple pop. I also don't think any of the Black singles are nearly as summery as Pacific Daydream's stuff so they kind of have done what you're saying
| |
That video was hilarious and brilliant
| |
high as a kite is fantastic
| |
I won't ever get hyped for a Weezer album again after the disappointment that was Pacific Daydream. That being said, Im interested to hear what direction the band takes this album, considering how varied these singles have been
| |
just realised this album has California Snow on it...
| |
I've liked all of them except Zombie Bastards
| |
had no idea this was coming out on friday wtf
wouldnt be a weezer album without half the album being released before the album comes out
| |
High as a Kite rules
| |
God this band has needed to fuck off for over a decade now
| |
