Neck Deep unveil new single

2019-06-27 by SymbolicInTime | 35 Comments
Neck Deep released a new single titled "She's a God", which features some synth work; a first for the band. Although they have not released any details on a forthcoming effort, the single's debut may serve as a harbinger of things to come.

The band are currently on tour in support of blink-182 and Lil' Wayne.

Hated this first time I heard it, but it grew on me immensely the more I spun it. Mostly due to the fact that I've been looking for songs to add to a playlist for my wife and I's upcoming reception, and boy does this perfectly fit the criteria for that. The synth work here is completely pointless, though, and I'd rather it just be cut outright.

All that being said, I sincerely hope this isn't the complete direction of their next outing.

Cute song to listen to with your gal

Hope the new album has a song like Can't Kick Up The Roots though.

@Jay heck yeah man when I told her they put out a new song and that itd work on our playlist she jumped on that shit instantly and she loved it Haha. I, too, hope we get something like that. I'm really missing the LNOTGY days.

@TheGreatQ Its just so darn sweet and cute and jcjdjwjdhdis I cant help but smile and sing along

Totally understand why some, likely most, won't dig this though.

@Lotion welcome to the club bud!

I like the lyrics honestly. Very little depth, but I enjoy the meaning behind them too much to be bothered

I'd definitely give that accolade to State Champs, myself. But if these guys wouldn't have released LNOTGY, I really wouldn't care about them

Honestly I tried liking this but the lyrics are so awful. It's supposed to be a wholesome song or whatever but it kinda comes off as cheesy. My gf loves it though lmao

Instrumentally it rules.

The only line here that outright bugs me is "shes a freak like Madonna".

Delivery is off, agreed, but I like the line itself. Just glad I'm not the only one that can glean some enjoyment off this track. Even r/poppunkers is dragging this through the mud and they like a lot of fucking garbage over there

still can’t fucking stand this and i’m absolutely not against a poppier pivot but you have to keep your fucking personality jesus christ why do no bands do this shit well

This is just over-produced. It's a shame. I used to love these guys and now they're going the way of All Time Low and State Champs with over-produced sugary sounding pop punk that will rot the teeth right out of your head.

@onion Emarosa made a fantastic swap to pop tendencies this year. All hope is not lost!

new dangerous summer is one of my favorite albums of the year and it did that pivot but that’s because they used the electronics and shit to expand on their songwriting not compensate for it

why can’t like 95% of other bands do that smh

@Symbolic Emarosa self-titled is a fucking masterpiece that won't allow me to enjoy them post-jonny

Contrary to what others are saying, I feel the lyrics are quite good. They have a different slant to them that was intriguing

State Champs first 2 albums were fantastic Symbolic come on man. Neck Deep's older shit is ok but nowhere near as memorable as other bands in this genre who do it way better. TSSF and Knuckle Puck best examples of that imo.

@joshie State Champs' The Finer Things rules and I dont mind their other stuff. Just find it the most meh out of the big ones. Neck Deep's early stuff is kinda lame, albeit serviceable TSSF USAD-era worship. But LNOTGY is just fuckin mwah just ace

@Tyler wrong band

ND's best is way beyond RF's for me, but aside from that, they're pretty on par. If every RF album was as good as their ETDYH ep, I'd give them the edge

@Kurai neither member that was accused of anything is even in the band anymore. Do some research before you sling mud.

From what I read, all but two members were involved, and the whole band were aware of the situation and the fact that the girl was underage. Lloyd was kicked out as a scapegoat for the others, and sure, Fil left last year, but that was of his own accord and nothing to do with the allegations, so the band were complacent for him to remain in the band in spite of his actions.
