Disillusion announce LP, share single

2019-07-19 by marasm | 16 Comments
Disillusion have released the first single coming off their new album, The Liberation, which is due to be released September 6th. The song, titled "The Great Unknown", is reminiscent of their 2004 album Back to Times of Splendor; in fact, the band have stated that this new album will be the spiritual successor to that album.

This will be the first full album the band have released since 2006's Gloria.

Disillusion have also released the album's artwork and tracklist on their Facebook page:

Yeah this was posted like a week ago lol

Song rules though. It has the progressive framework from BTTOS but a lot of the same atmospherics of Gloria. Which is to say that, despite that album ultimately being a failure (I still enjoy it, but I digress), they still learned something from it.

Really dig the production as well. Same dude who did most of Opeth's classic albums, if anyone cares.

I probably won't check this until release, keeping the faith that it'll rule. I did get a certain sense of deja vu with this news story, obvious why now.

Gotta agree with bloc, meh til the solo and then it gets me to remember why I gave a damn about this band in the first place.

Harsh vocals are kinda weak though. Never was exactly a strong suit of the band but they're not as good as BtToS though. I hope there's some more faster bombastic songs on this one like that album.

I really can't believe this is actually happening. It's been a solid decade since I heard BTTOS for the first time and even back then it was kind of a gag that they would never release anything else
