sweet

| |
deactivate it please
|
| |
Feels good, man
|
| |
Short and sweet, with the usual tech-riffs.
|
| |
Not bad. Vocals will take some getting used to (and the slight tuning shift to compensate for it) but it's a decent jam. Seems like a very intentional attempt at presenting a short, focused single to kind of ease the band back in, and, at the very least, it succeeds at that.
|
| |
David DiSanto is an abuser
|
| |
yep
|
| |
it was some ugly business
|
| |
beat his wife, strangled her till the cops were called, sexually assaulted her and locked her in a basement
but hey guys, riffs!!
|
| |
Nice Storm of the light bane's 5 mate.
Nödtveidt killed someone, but hey man, riffs!!
Pretty cringy man...
|
| |
thanks for reminding me. un-5'd
|
| |
Doesn't make it any less cringe tbh.
Let people enjoy music as they like.
|
| |
where did I say they couldn't?
I just don't think his actions should be overlooked or forgotten.
|
| |
Sure, but this is a music discussion forum and you did not say a single word about the music itself, but straight went to the abuse stuff.
|
| |
yes, because his actions should not be overlooked or forgotten.
what's your point?
I may not have mentioned the music, but I'm talking about the musician, so it's still relevant.
if he's banking on the idea that people have forgotten/don't care in order to make a comeback, of course people should be reminded. every single public thing he does in the future should come with a giant asterisk that he's an abuser. it should never be forgotten.
|
| |
I doubt he’s banking on anything excepting wanting to keep making music, it’s not like a band like Vektor is raking in money. vast majority of metal artists would be better off doing some other job
|
| |
I really hope they alternate the shrieks with the lower register vox. There's a rumor that DiSanto shot his vocal chords and if that's the case it'd be a fucking shame. I always thought they had so much character.
|
| |
Not hugely impressed by the track, but since the song is going on the split ep it's no biggie.
I really hope they step it up for their next lp though.
Also Heck, you are a hero, doing gods work.
|
| |
band sucks as usual
|
| |
Fuck DiSanto and any current music he puts out, and fuck Erik Nelson for rejoining this band. He had an out when him, Frank Chin, and Blake Anderson quit in 2016. He has to know what kind of a person DiSanto is, and the fact that he's still helping DiSanto out is repugnant.
|
| |
track pumps me up, makes me wanna strangle someone!!
|
| |
>Also Heck, you are a hero, doing gods work.
take the L bro
|
| |
it's kinda weird when somebody gets so defensive over the idea of calling out domestic abuse
|
| |
"it's kinda weird when somebody gets so defensive over the idea of calling out domestic abuse" [2]
Also new song is basically thrash by numbers with some Vektor-isms thrown in. Even if the dude wasn't a wifebeater I'd still be hella disappointed in this. Looks like they peaked already.
|
| |
Damn I honestly didn't know there was such a deep and violent history of abuse there. All I heard about what DD throwing a pillow, which at this point was obviously a form of minimization.
Thanks heck for staying on the horse and repeatedly posting about it. Stuff I'm glad I know now honestly.
|
| |
Yikes, Vektor
|
| |
yeah song is pretty bad
|
| |
"it's kinda weird when somebody gets so defensive over the idea of calling out domestic abuse"
Hypocrisy is pathetic, more like.
|
| |
which is apparently a bigger sin to you than beating women.
no hypocrisy on my part either way, since I've never committed domestic abuse unlike the person I'm calling out.
|
| |
take the L bro [2]
|
| |
I didn’t realize there were fans that didn’t know why they broke up so I guess it was topical.
Maybe it makes me a bad person, but I’m still gonna listen to black future and hvis lyset and storm of the lights bane and massive conspiracy against all life and all the other albums I like regardless of who made them
|
| |
Maybe the most overrated sput band
|
| |
@Itwasthatwas You can still listen to it, just don't give them money
|
| |
>Maybe the most overrated sput band
honestly?
its up there, but prob not THE #1
|
| |
Always thought this band was overrated. 73 minutes of noodley thrash metal must be compensating for something.
|
| |
But the art and the artist debate is an interesting one, and I'm not ashamed to take the "edgy" position. David Bowie fucked a 13 yo and I acknowledge it's fucked up but I still think he's the greatest artist of his generation.
|
| |
boring song tbh
|
| |
did someone say “more like deactivate” yet
|
| |
i didn’t listen to the song
|
| |
i didn't, heck did
|
| |
lol oh heck
|
| |
Pretty good song.
|
| |
vox sound like if King Gizzard tried harsh vox as a joke, unsurprising he'd ruin his voice with all those pinched squeaks.
heck unironically doing the lord's work tho
|
| |
Song sucks but the bass is sick. All bass should be that loud
|
| |
senetrix i got u fam click this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lChCYQlxOjI
|
| |
It sounds like a generic thrash band trying to do a Vektor cover.
|
| |
Cryptic Shift mop the floor with these guys.
|
| |
Decent song, I dig it. Def more simplified compared to previous shit.
|
| |
Solid track. Not surprised by the comments.
|
| |
boy i do not like the change in vocals here, tho i'm hardly surprised that the dude's voice is supposedly fucked from the old style.
song is meh otherwise although its at least not 7 minutes long
|
| |
Awesome song, glad they're back.
Also funny how people are still mad at David for throwing a pillow at his wife.
|
| |
you might wanna re-read all the shit his wife said he did bud it's a bit worse than " OwO meanie daddy pillow fight "
|
| |
"Fuck DiSanto and any current music he puts out, and fuck Erik Nelson for rejoining this band. He had an out when him, Frank Chin, and Blake Anderson quit in 2016. He has to know what kind of a person DiSanto is, and the fact that he's still helping DiSanto out is repugnant."
People tend to forget or not know why everyone quit the band back in 2016 in the first place. DiSanto's behavior or personality was not the main reason, or at least not the only one.
Also people tend to forget there's always more than one side to a story.
Anyway, it's a damn shame Vektor threads can't be just about the music no more.
|
| |
Those are all allegations, nothing more. Erik released a statement after re-joining the band that made it sound like his wife isn't Honest. If you and your infinite wisdom wanna cancel everyone just because of allegations that's fine, to me people are innocent until proven guilty. The pillow throw video is all the evidence, and it's been completely blown out of proportion.
|
| |
Boring track
|
| |
The band broke up, almost been eviscerated from the landscape for DiSanto's accusations, and still came out with a song faster than the gap between Outer Isolation and Terminal Redux, I call this is a win. Tbh I was so used to DiSanto's raspy vocals that I didnt think he was capable of this type of more normal vocal style lol
|
| |
surprised it took this long to get one of these asinine tHeY'rE jUsT aLlEgAtIoNs smoothbrains
|
| |
Cancel culture ACTIVATE!
In all seriousness domestic abuse is not ok, yeah
|
| |
allegation
[ˌaləˈɡāSH(ə)n]
NOUN
allegations (plural noun)
a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof.
|
| |
Nice riff package as expected. I'm glad the lads are still out around despite the lineup changes.
|
| |
Notrap bringing shit back down to business, yeah.
Track is actually intricate enough, for those that care to listen.
|
| |
its pretty weak tbh
though i do appreciate that its not 9 minutes long
|
| |
I find it intellectually stimulating to have a controversial opinion about this.
|
| |
Idk why everyone thinks it’s controversial to not want to listen to a band because they have members that are pieces of shit. Like if you can separate it that’s tight you do you but this band was always 3/5 territory for me so it’s easier to just not support them lol
|
| |
The point, although well hidden, was that liking Vektor is controversial bc now it implies supporting domestic abuse.
|
| |
Surprisingly boring tbh
|
| |
Boring song tbh, quite generic by Vektor standards too.
|
| |
also the comparison with dissection is not the same because jon nodtveidt is dead and is not in a position to profit off this stuff. obviously the art may still be informed by the same ideology anyway but it doesn't benefit him to have people buy it or not when he's in the grave
|
| |
Anyway, the crux of the matter is that this song is extremely disappointing (and I loved Vektor's previous musical output)
MEDIOCRE
|
| |
People get so sensitive about abuse...
It happened, hopefully he was punished, he repented, and he will never do it again.
Tim Lambesis went to prison for a few years for what he did. It sucks people do what they do, but don't act like there's no redemption...
|
| |
Dissection also has strong ties to national socialism. I'm not self-righteous enough to let most personal crimes interfere with the appraisal of art, but fascism will definitely color my perception.
|
| |
I can for sure get that someone's enjoyment of art is tied to his/her moral beliefs. And I can definitely understand that someone won't be comfortable with financially supporting a band that has a certain amount of sketchiness surrounding it, even if just one musician in that band turns out to be of issue. At the same time you can't really expect everyone to have the same internal moral conflict. And you can judge someone else's stance regarding these issues, but when push comes to shove you can't really expect them to care. At the end of the day people will just go about their business and do as they please.
|
| |
fun song, but yeah hopefully they come out with something in line with their previous output. feels like it's missing something with those vocals.
|
| |
I haven’t listened to this because I’m scared it won’t live up to my expectations...
Time to pull off that plaster.
|
| |
It was unexpected for me and that worked
|
| |
Yeah it’s decent instrumentally, I’m not completely on board with the vox though.
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
From what I hear they're tuned in E now, which is half a step down from their previous stuff. This automatically darkens the register somewhat and would be consistent with DiSanto's vocal cords not being up to the usual shrieking challenge anymore.
Bass is really heavy as well.
|
| |
If this is material being released as part of a split EP, then I’m hoping they have more up their sleeve for the solo stuff. If so I wouldn’t say this is discouraging, as long as they can make the vox work.
|
| |
the vocals are not the weakest part, they sound like some german 80s stuff almost
|
| |
Yay, music is being discussed.
I'd say technically this is up to par, only they're not stepping out of their comfort zone as far as songwriting is concerned, no adventurous stuff there. Aesthetically this is a bit bland compared to their previous stuff. They should be capable of more.
|
| |
agreed, dude. The scope of Terminal Redux in songwriting and storytelling was pretty massive, so where do you go from there? I'd be happy with an Outer Isolation part II tbh
|
| |
allegation
[ˌaləˈɡāSH(ə)n]
NOUN
allegations (plural noun)
a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof.
Yeah, if anyone has any actual hard evidence of the stuff it is claimed that he did besides the original video of him throwing a pillow and punching a wall, please share it with everyone. Actually try to ya know, convince people who are skeptical; and not just demand everyone fall in line with a principle of believing all accusations.
|
| |
welcome to 2020 man, things don't just go away these days, not saying they should or shouldn't but it's the reality we live in.
|
| |
"It happened, hopefully he was punished, he repented, and he will never do it again."
when you have to preface that with "hopefully", your point is moot.
|
| |
3.5 at best
they sound like havok
|
| |
I got havok vibes too from the new song, not what I was expecting
|
| |
>they sound like havok
so more like 2.0 at best then?
|
| |
Generic Vektor is still pretty solid.
|
| |
vocals are terrible
|
| |
Abuse aside, this song is also really fucking disappointing. Seriously, I’m kinda shocked that this is the same band that put out those other records. As stated above, it basically sounds like a shitty Havok clone trying to imitate Vektor
|
| |
The new vox should make it more stomachable for all those Metallica fans that kept bitching about the vox earlier
|
| |
Also, for anyone wondering how this sounds like Havok, just listen to the first 30 seconds of their song Point of No Return
|
| |
https://youtu.be/EKEczFstoPI
|
| |
more like vekturd
|
| |
damn necrotica you know your thrash
you are right btw, obv
|
| |
Yeah, thrash is one of my favorite metal genres :]
|
| |
well you'll be happy to anticipate the list i've got cooking then :]
|
| |
wow of all the Vektor songs people would want to die on this hill for yall are choosing this one huh
|
| |
u mean the defeners?
|
| |
Too bad this guy turned out to be an abusive cunt
|
| |
Come on Darius we all know ur degenerate as fuck
|
| |
I've only really listened to Black Future more than once and Asteroid is the only track that stayed in rotation. Saw them live and they played Terminal in full and I yelled Asteroid in the voice and got them to do it as the encore. I was happy about that although dude does seem like a real jerk based on reading this thread. That said I do like this song quite a bit. Something just clicked with me and I'm a sucker for prominent bass in metal.
|
| |
Trolls everywhere.
They 5 murderers albums but diss on Vektor because of a pillow fight.
Let's talk about music here, we don't care about your BS opinions on their personal lives.
Anyway, song is cool. Not their best obviously but you can hear there's much more going on than in most bands songs still.
Can't wait for the full release tbh. Even if it's not as good as Black Future or Terminal Redux, it sounds like it's going to be good.
|
| |
Murder and church burning is just so much more m/
|
| |
what's it like living in that alternate universe, fae
|
| |
there's a lot more to it than a "pillow fight", but you know that, Dave.
|
| |
I forgot about this track. As I mentioned above I don't really return to any of the Vektor albums but upon jamming again I think this is probably my favorite of their songs. Bass here is so nasty and I enjoy the fretwork a ton. Especially the end of that solo
|
| |
No there's not. And my name starts with an F, not a D.
|
| |
you're right, sorry Fuckwit.
|
| |
I dig the song but the lack of Dave's high pitched screeching is disappointing.
This song feels a lot more Metallica based than their previous stuff.
|
| |
@heck: Kindergarten's the other way.
@CalighyJack: eah i finally was getting used to it haha.
But imo the songs structure are what make Vektor songs good. And while this one isn't the most complex, it still retains the band's style.
Really curious to hear the rest ^^
|
| |
the video also shows him picking up and throwing her, but you know, there's a pillow in it for 2 seconds, so obviously it can't be that bad.
not to mention all the court documents that are available to view. if you're riding the iT waS onLy a PiLloW FiGHt narrative so hard, you're either being willfully obtuse or you just don't care about other people.
|
| |
"eah i finally was getting used to it haha.
But imo the songs structure are what make Vektor songs good. And while this one isn't the most complex, it still retains the band's style."
TRUE. I don't want to knock it too hard as the structure is still Vektor af and I'm all for it. Still the vocals did make them sound unique and without it they sound like just every other Thrash band. A great Thrash band though.
|
| |
its aight i guess hurr durr
|
| |
Have they announced the release date for this? I'm gettin impatient
|
| |
This does riff, but the singer also beats.
|
| |
domestic violence
|
| |
I hope he returns to his original vocals tbqh
|
| |
@Caliggy release date is 25th Feb, 4 days to go
|
| |
Holy shit I didn't expect it to be that close absolute HYPE!
|
| |
still wish this band and its piece of shit frontman would fuck off
|
| |
can't wait for this shitty split to drop yeehaw

how embarrassing for you
|

Not this thread again
|
| |
Sci-fi/prog thrashers
|
| |
my pfp is great what are you talking about nerd
|
| |
Split is gonna slap
|
| |
I don't mind the Hetfield vocals, I just don't like how unimaginative this is for the most part. Sounds like thrash metal, and that's not a lofty thing to say for a band like Vektor. Also, I've never heard a band do a straight ripoff of their last album like they did with the other single they just released. It sounds like Terminal Redux's aborted child
|
| |
Wow that was boring.
|
| |
yea
|
| |
Split is average at best
|
| |
Not bad. Will definitely steal the next album.
|
| |
Damn the pterodactyl shrieks are gone :[
Guitar work still rules but tbh I can't do these higher pitched James Hetfield vox
|
| |
super underwhelming
|
| |
