At least this will stop everyone bitching about Magma.
| |
Never could get real into these guys
| |
more like fartitude, amirite?
| |
Got em
| |
The ending was cool but I was pretty underwhelmed by the rest
| |
Good song, guitars need to be higher in the mix though.
| |
Man this has some killer riffs on it
| |
hype
| |
Feels like another 3.5 is on the way.
| |
Are metal bands even capable of making a good music video or are their tiny primordial peanut brains only capable of thinking up different ways to make a guitar go CHUGGACHUGGA
| |
Red Fang has good music videos and they're kinda metal
| |
Code Orange’s videos are next level shit
| |
Good song.
Artwork reminds me of the last Mastodon album

yeah the mixing's a bit off but it's a good song otherwise
| |
I actually really dug that song. I hope this album is under an hour, my fav Gojira album is actually Magma, mainly b/c it’s the shortest one. I’ve struggled to get into this band, they have a unique sound but it’s not one I want to listen to for long periods of time.
| |
They definitely have a tendency to write overlong albums that's for sure
| |
Guess I'm in the minority that loves Magma.
| |
I liked Magma, wasn't amazing but it was good for sure
| |
I loved Magma.
| |
Track is super promising, mixing is kind of whack.
| |
what is it with Andy Wallace's mixing these days? last Ghost album sounded off too
| |
Pretty down to this, hope they don't dissapoint
| |
"these dudes had the most amaaaazing run of albums until magma"
They released two 5's in a row, agreed
| |
I dig this.
| |
The bass slaps hard! The mix is a bit weird but this is really good
| |
The mix is fine people lol
| |
Mix didn't bug me but the song itself is a bit underwhelming, doesn't hit nearly as hard as anything off FMtS or TWoAF and doesn't have any big hooks like the singles off Magma. Not bad but hopefully the rest of the album does more to set itself apart
| |
There are some riffs in this song that 100% rival some shit on their old stuff, but the mixing is a bit muddy that it takes away from some of the abrasiveness. I don't necessarily dislike the mix, it has an old school metal feel to me which is a bit refreshing.
I'd say I'm pretty excited for this release. The artwork is creepy in a Hereditary "Hail Paimon" kind of way.
| |
Love this new song, super excited for this new album, seems they are leaning more in the direction of their older releases
| |
Liked it!
| |
i liked everything about this. much better than another world which i was hoping wouldn't be on the album. The mixing i'm unsure about (the vocals are lower than usual, the guitars a bit muddier) but we'll see how it all sounds in the end. pretty stoked
| |
Pretty cool drumming, but I don’t think I’ll ever fully get into these guys.
| |
stoked for this
| |
Not sure what y'all are hearing that makes the mix bad. Listened on a couple different speakers now and it sounds pretty good to me. It definitely pales in comparison to TWoaF (which IMO has some of the best production on any metal album ever) but it's not offensive by any means.
Production aside, I'm really digging this song. Probably in the minority on this one, but I think I prefer this single and Another World to anything from Magma.
| |
Magma is great, never understood the hate.
| |
This is pretty good btw.
| |
Magma was great and I'm sure the new joint will be too. Another World was solid and this is awesome.
| |
Haven't heard any songs on this yet, but Magma was definitely a grower. Looking forward
| |
"At least this will stop everyone bitching about Magma."
How could anyone have a problem with their best album since From mars to Sirius?
| |
This is growing on me a bit, still don't love the chorus but it do be havin some riffs
| |
That riff @ 1:25 really reminds me of Rapture by Morbid Angel
| |
morbid angel is prob the single biggest influence on these guys so u may be right
| |
Yeah I heard one song off their 1st record and it was super Morbid Angel-y
| |
even on from mars theres grooves quite reminiscent of gateways era morbid angel
honestly i think its pretty cool
| |
the whale boys are back
| |
at his best mario is almost as good behind the kit as pete tbh, but i feel he's dialed it down a lot on recent material unfortunately
| |
I feel this would be more enjoyable if the vocals werent so low in the mix. I mean the muddy breakdowns really cool and does hit but its a shame that the vocals are so quiet
| |
Really like the song. WAAAY BETTER than their previous song Another World.
| |
it's a killer opening song, tbh. Gets me stoked to listen to the rest.
I love Magma [2] but it was also the first one, so it's probably sentimentalism.
The guitars are a bit low in the mix, agreed, but the bass is great.
Album art is like latest Mastodon [2]
| |

stop being right

I don't dig Deftones, for real ¯_(ツ)_/¯
| |
there you go XD
Even righteous men are wrong from time to time.
| |
Are you all getting fooled by poor YouTube quality? Mix sounds fine on Spotify?
Decent track, could be a return to form!
| |
I love Magma [3]
| |
You asked for something like this Shem
| |
I did mate and I’m tentatively hyped but all my pre-hype is dead forever after Loathe dropped an ambient album without telling anyone it wasn’t more of the same
| |
"Are you all getting fooled by poor YouTube quality? Mix sounds fine on Spotify?"
Been listening to this and the other single via Apple Music and the mix still feel too geared towards the low end. The guitars, vocals and cymbals all wash out and need more depth. I don't know. There's some guys on here that are definitely more tech focused on recordings and bitrates than me - but these two tracks could be massive if they brought some of the other stuff up a little.
| |
you guys should start listening to all music in max vol
| |
Yeah I mean pretty much all metal sounds average unless you’re blasting it and if you’re blasting it the mix is usually less impactful
| |
I heard the song damaged some fossils there. Can anyone confirm?
| |
didnt blow me away, but its good enough
| |
never listened to these guys but this is kinda cool.
| |
not brutal
| |
my God 😍😎🖤🖤
| |
I dont get the hate on Magma, its different yeah. but its still overall a great album. Though I wouldn't mind more heavy chugga chugga Gojira songs on this album.
| |
Well, this one is very chugga chugga.
| |
Mix is a little too thin, did not expect that breakdown from Gojira.
| |
Song's a bit long, but there are plenty of polyrhythms to hold my attention for now
| |
Is this the first time Gojira has released an instrumental as a single?
| |
Sounds like something from Magma alright
| |
I dig it. Also dug Magma and most of everything from these guys.
| |
5/5 masterpiece incoming, I can already feel it
| |

Yeah, with all the technologies they invent, there should be some kind of trick or button that would allow us to stop listening to an album before it reaches its end. Or better, a way to select the track we want to listen to would be absolutely awesome. Because sometimes, it's really hard to just go through all the tracks one by one up until the end. And sometimes you just feel like listening to the same track several times in a row. I don't mean to anger anybody but I must admit that having to listen to the whole album entirely each time is a bit bothersome.
| |
Magma was awesome. The new album will be great as well. The haters gonna hate.
| |

Or maybe the problem is that Gojira are not a band that should be making 60+ minute albums.
Cute sarcasm sweetheart :|
| |
If I were listening to an album I would simply ignore the parts I don't enjoy, this is how critical thinking works
| |
Was this video supposed to convey something? Didn't click with me.
Song's alright. So far, I liked Magma more because of its concept revolving around the passing of Joe and Mario's mother leaving this sad, emotional undertone that slowly seeps through under the heaviness; I think it's a pretty effective portrayal.
I predict 3.5s here if there aren't enough stronger tracks.
