Allegaeon Announce New Album 2021-10-27 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 17 Comments | US melodic tech metallers Allegaeon return with their sixth studio album, Damnum, set for release on February 25th, 2022 via Metal Blade Records. Today, the five-piece deliver a look into their new album with the video 'Into Embers'. You can watch it below.
Vocalist Riley McShane states. "This song embodies the dark and fitful nature of this album by bringing to the table elements of ourselves as a band and as individual musicians that we have been waiting to share with you all for a long, long time. As always, we are excited for our listeners to join us as we step forward into new landscapes - continuing to push the boundaries of our music further and further - and we are eager to experience the unveiling of DAMNUM together over these next few months."
For McShane, centering his lyrics on processing sadness, anger, grief, and loneliness, his intention is that some people might take solace in the words and use them as a resource to cope with their own experiences. "My hope with these lyrics is to have them be relatable to listeners and show them that they're not alone when they're experiencing the gamut of negative emotions - someone else is out there feeling the same way."
Helping to bring the record to life is new drummer Jeff Saltzman, as guitarist Greg Burgess admits, "This is really the first record where the drummer has written all their parts, instead of us guitar players programming a beat and having our drummer just write the fills," and adds McShane, "pairing him with our bass player Brandon Michael, we have a rhythm section that can keep up with the level of musicality and proficiency the guitars have always brought to the table." ALLEGAEON is rounded out by guitarist Michael Stancel.

Their last album ruled so I'm hyped up for this
track fucking slays too
| | | ngl the snipped seemed...not great
| | | Aight I didn't realize that was the full track uptop and finally give it a listen. I'll eat the crow. It's great
| | | Excited for more cleans in their songs.
| | | Awesome track. Hyped for the album.
| | | I loved their first album with Riley (and their previous albums are pretty great too) but for some reason I couldn't really get into their last one. Nothing really stood out to me, it all just kinda blended together.
Still, excited for this one, hopefully this one hooks me more.
| | | This track is really, really good. I’m not a big fan, but that may change with this release.

Felt the same way. Loved that first record w him but the last one just receded into the background literally every time I listened to it. Won't deny the virtuosity involved but it wasn't memorable at all. And that's saying something bc the band write loads of memorable leads.
| | | Haven't heard these guys in YEARS but this vocalist is very boring compared to the one on Fragments.
| | | Went to school with Jeff, their new drummer, he is a most excellent dude and a brilliant musician. Pretty stoked to hear the album.
| | | It's nice to see our buddies having some kind of success.
| | | god damn i was not expecting the clean and leads to rip this hard
| | | sounds like their best since proponent. v nice.
| | | album art is fucking sick.

| | | absolutely badarse track
what these guys always needed was to learn to play some fucking midtempo songs, the evolution is evident here
