That was actually a good and fun track
|
| |
This song absolutely rips, dunno what's going on with the song title though
|
| |
Really unimpressed with this, heavy in the most boring way, guitar work is actually obnoxious half the time. Djent riffs without something else doing the heavy lifting to make the song interesting just doesn't work for me.

Vial of Mayo
|
| |
didnt love this or anything but they need to do more songs like this without their wack ass cleans
|
| |
this reminds me of their pre-Matriarch days so that has me excited
|
| |
yeah what Durzo said, this is terribly boring past the first 20 seconds
|
| |
marc is pretty underwhelming on this yea
|
| |
nah this is good though i do like their sing/scream stuff more.... lukas' voice is too good to be confined to screams
|
| |
i j cant deal w those diet periphery vox lol if he didnt sound exactly like spencer i wouldnt mind as much but that is the exact way to not win me over w cleans

djent is still a thing or nah?

Omg the title scared the hell out of me...thankfully the song is typical VoM (i.e. fun at the gym)

Vial of Mayo [2]
|

Band has always been a boring slog
|
| |
I thought the band sucked before so can't get much worse or more annoying, the band create notes and sounds, but not songs. one of those bands.
|
| |
Vial of Mayo [3]
|
| |
Wait a minute, this is actually good lol Way better than anything off Matrtiarch and False Idol imo
|
| |
This is creative and powerful. It sounds like an evolutionary sound of their first three albums. Dunno what people are talking about, this shreds hard!
|
| |
"dunno what's going on with the song title though"
Based on what I've read online, the band supposedly scrapped the album they recorded in 2019 because it had been "tainted" by someone involved in the making of the album. Given that their last single was the heavily synthwave-influenced "Outrun" which was supposed to be on that album, my theory is that the title of this song is them taking a potshot at the person in question, maybe because that person was the one pushing them in the synthwave direction.
|
| |
Track slaps hard. Hopefully folks can look beyond their preconceived notions of VoM and actually listen. Excited for the LP.

Mike's Hard Vial of Mayo
|
| |
This band hasn't been interesting in a really long time, and this has done absolutely nothing to change that.
|
| |
What people don’t know is this bands name is short for veil of maya angelou
|
| |
Holy mother this was 🔥

Not defending this band, but probably should keep the posts professional.
|
| |
I feel like Marc Okubo needs to do what John Browne did with the new Monuments and go back to six strings, his riff writing was a whole lot stronger when constrained to a more standard scale. Plus it'll probably free up some low end space in these mixes too.
Still better than the last two singles tho

Absolutely not, reading Vial of Mayo made my day!

A+

When did this become a shitposting site
|
| |
I don't get people's disdain for silly articles, do you want every site to say the same goddamn thing lmao
"Band releases new single haha wee!"
|
| |
This site has been like 50/50 straight/tongue in cheek for its entire existence. This article itself is surrounded by articles with phrases such as "Run for Covercore" and "Of as yet unspecified descent, folk/medieval rock/metal outfit".
The loose cannon that is community driven content is a large part of why people come here. If I wanted articles written by Respected Staffer John "Generic Press Release" Smith I'd go elsewhere. For now I'll take our boy "amateur grammar vigilante woodtouching over the sanctity of what things are *supposed* to mean" and his delicious Vial of Mayo.
|
| |
"Band releases new single haha wee!"
come on now, we all now "haha wee" ain't professional enough
|
| |
hes got a point very unprofessional to spell the band name wrong in the article. who tf is veil of maya
at least the thread got that spelling right
|
| |
Band will not be surprised by the cheekiness if they see this I guarantee it
|
| |
These news titles and articles get more wild every year
|

All the better
|

This is pretty sick
|

If you look really closely at 2:01 you can see "Synthwave Vegan" tattooed on Marc's wrist, I respect that

Not bad
|

I like a couple of tracks from these guys but this sucks, it’s really really dull and uninspired. This could be anyone, nothing distinct about it. It has no swag
|
| |
Vial of mayo is pretty funny in context of this single release. It's getting the credit it deserves i think
|
| |
I don't usually listen to this band but when I do, I do like what they do.
|

They once released a good record
12 years have passend since then
I prefer Ketchifery

First half was alright.
Keyboard layer one minute in feels phoned in.
I didn't think this song had anything annoying about it until 2 minutes in, then I'm like "oh, there it is."
I don't get why he uses dissonance so much without trying to actually make it sound musical. Like give the notes some type of context in the scale instead of just clustering two notes together all over the place.
But hey, if you like this, not saying you shouldn't, it's just kind of bothering me from a composer's perspective.
|
| |
Yeah on this track Okubo really overemphasizes staccato and stuttering rhythms, to a fault
|
| |
do these guys go bar south or what boys
|
| |
sputnikmusic dot com has always been leading the charge in professional article writing and nuanced discourse and i'm personally appalled that such an article has worked its way into my feed and now my day is ruined
also this song is really bad
|
| |
I thought it was decent. Has more personality than the scrapped singles they released.
|
| |
Bit of a throwback for these which I don't hate
|

"When did this become a shitposting site"
Roughly six seconds after it was created.
|
| |
"probably should keep the posts professional"
You new here?
Lol no, but it does get old. The staff on this site pick on certain bands and not on others. Start shit talking Meshuggah at least to make it fair!
|
| |
Lol dude I posted the article. I'm not staff and I like this band which is why I took the time to post something about the release. The Vial of Mayo jab was a lighthearted joke because of the song's title. No one's picking on them, but if it helps I'll try making a Radiodead or Mesh-00-gah joke when the opportunity arises.
|
| |
Love the song but I still have zero faith that this band is going to put out another album.
|
| |
"Not defending this band, but probably should keep the posts professional."
he was, in fact, defending the band
