damn this goes into some really interesting places in the breakdown, fucking slaps
| |
certified birb moment
| |
It's ok. I've always struggled to get into Haken and after hearing this song that hasn't changed. Not bad but nothing special
| |
There is so much going on and so much depth in this song. Haken never disappoints.
| |
That's a good song. I have hopes for the new album to be better than Virus
| |
Yeah, this song absolutely rips. They don't miss
| |
Way too much Ross for my tastes, especially the first 3 minutes in particular I could probably do without. The rest is great
| |
hyped to check. really liked vector but not as much as the 2 before it. same thing with virus but i didn't really come back to it at all after a listen or 2. I think it had to do with the theming not being as embodied tbh which is what I really have loved about these guys.
| |
Understandable. Affinity is probably their worst album.
| |
nobody asked
| |
Affinity is one of their best agreed
| |
lolno
| |
lel yes
| |
Αffinity is one of their best agreed [2]
Kalk bro, ily
| |
Aw, thank you Myth
I'm not the biggest Haken fan, but sometimes I genuinely want to jam Affinity
| |
This sounds like Opeth, Steven Wilson and BTBAM had a baby.
| |
great song!
| |
Dig it. Been following them since their last album "Virus" (great album).
| |
been a fan since the release of the mountain
| |
Slaps
| |
Really liking this, better than anything on Virus imo.
| |
Another Mountain-era fan here. This band has been amazing for so many years, something hard to achieve in prog metal nowadays
>This sounds like Opeth, Steven Wilson and BTBAM had a baby.
Really don't hear the first two on this, and BTBAM play on the same league so I don't feel like they are a direct influence, as much as that they share common ground
| |
Virus was my aoty 2020, hyped for new album
| |
Virus was pretty bland for a Haken album and now that they've lost Diego (the keyboardist) I'm curious as to which aspect of the sound will be gone as apparently they had big creative differences
| |
Virus was the only Haken album I absolutely could not penetrate. And that's not to say it was too complex; quite the opposite, I understood it well. I just did not enjoy it despite it doing nothing particularly different from any of their other records.
That said, this does feel a touch more forward for them, which I dig.
| |
I couldn't get into Affinity or Virus and absolutely love everything else they've done, if it weren't for those 2 albums they would be one of favorite bands for sure. Well I suppose they still are ONE of them
| |
People still think The Mountain was a good album eh?
| |
yeah its their best, clown.
| |
It's okay to be wrong, just admit it lelele
| |
Kalk, c'mon now, objectively The Mountain is an album
| |
definitely one of the albums.
| |
The Mountain is an album, let's agree on that
| |
Visions will always be my fave Haken.
| |
People still think The Mountain was a good album eh?
lol what, of course it's a "good" album at the bare minimum
Same pleb
| |
Hehehe
The Mountain is fine of course. Not a favorite of mine, but it's competently done. This band is good at what they're doing.
Visions as their best is a based chad opinion. One I don't share anymore, but based nonetheless
| |
thank god I don't understand what a chad is
| |
I think it relates to Red Hot Chili Peppers, perhaps it's a cheese?
>Visions best Haken
Nah bro, Vision's is a basic prog album, cooks great but the recipe is nothing new
| |
mythodea once more making birbkind proud by being based and chadpilled.
| |
Thanks Flug, but I read this as ''birbking'', so not much to feel proud about
| |
i do not care what you read it as, quite frankly.
| |
Spoke as a true birb king
| |
birdkink

This is truly a culmination of everything, the intro is Visions, the verse is Mountain, the pre-chorus/chorus is very Vector/Virus, I get Affinity vibes from the breakdown. Either way, happy to see the band still pushing the envelope with their sounds and song structures and making consistently good music while they’re at it. Virus was great but I felt was losing some of the emotional grandeur that makes their early works special, and this seems to be re-injecting some of that. Hype!
| |
Track is solid. Haken is wholly a well-oiled machine.
That last part, though. OOOOO that hits a spot for me. Good stuff.
